Hello all,

I live in Oshkosh.
I am having trouble getting the computer to connect to the bike (05xb9s)
I bought a cable and connector, made it myself. Got it to connect once with some wiggling of the wires. Soldered the wires to the leads for a better connection.
Still couldn't get it to connect.
Cut the leads off, bought new ones, this time just crimped them. Still no connection.
could it be the plug on the bike that is bad?
Anywho, looking of someone in the area who has ecmspy and a buell that could test my cable and bike plug to find where the problem is.
...key on, bike is on, drivers installed, ecmspy program is working.

...Frustration is setting in!

Mike

Key must be on.

Kill switch must be in run position.

Start ECMSpy.

If it doesn't connect by itself click on the "Communications Options" button and you should have a connection that will work.

ECMSpy doesn't really do much until you click the "Online/Offline" button. At that time it will show real time data from the bike.

You may not have the correct software that tells the USB connection to talk to the ECM connection to be made.!

Just because it's connected, doesn't mean the two will interact.

I think you may still be able to get the download from Mike's site, or try the Musclecross site.

Mluds0379, I live in Appleton. My future father-in-law is making me a cable tomorrow. I have not used ECMSpy yet and would appreciate some help. Want to get together and see if we can learn some things? How knowledgeable are you with the fuel mapping and ECMSPY in general?

What software? I have the correct drivers installed, I deleted everything and reinstalled twice both ecmspy and the drivers.
"Failed to get com port" is what happens everytime.

"Failed to get com port"

It will do that if either the key is off or if the kill switch in turned off. Was the kill switch in the run position?

Are you running Vista? If so, you must be in administrator mode.

Problem is bad cable. I went to his house and used my cable, no problem. Must have been bad soldering to the pins.
