On my '05 Sx, my speedometer occasionally quits working. This usually happens when the engine is nice and hot. I have discovered a trick that sometimes gets it working again, pulling the clutch, letting RPMs drop, then cracking the throttle a little, and the speedo wakes up. This seems like the sensor is crapping out. Where is the sensor, and how hard is it to change out? |

The sensor is under the front pulley cover connected to the gearbox. Not hard to change out, a couple of screws. There is a handful of threads on this, as it was a common issue on the 03's. Probably needs a cleaning, if not just replace it. |

If it has any metal shavings, just wipe it clean, reinstall and see if it works. If not, replace it- it's only like $55. |

I just replaced my sensor last week. It took me about 15 minutes taking my time. I had the same problem for the last 6 or 7 months. Bike cold= speedo working. Bike hot= speedo no worky. I cleaned it and it did nothing for me. The new one works the way it's supposed to. I probably have over 1K miles, maybe close to 2K miles unrecorded on the odometer |

Actually the sensor is not underneath the cover, the connector is. The sensor is on top of the case just above the pulley held in by an allen bolt. Sounds like cleaning it will work. |
