Any kind of speculation on what changes may be made to the 2010 XB platform?
Usually rumors are flying at this time of the year.
Hope they offer more than cosmetic changes.

LOL, speculate away!
But it seems to me that the even years bring out bigger changes with the line up to me. Maybe not this year as the 1125 was a big baby to give birth to. But who knows?

Come on
Everyone know it will be a Rotax Uly.
Wait until you see the pods on that one, armored pods.

I'm betting on a plaid color scheme... or the long-rumored bio-fuelled Buell - powered by Okra!

A diesel Uly might mean a 200 mile range on a tank of fuel.

All I want to see is the 1125R offered with Thrust Blue plastics.

I can't help but think that the fairing and pods will look even cooler than the current colors against the black frame.

It's a rather boring speculation but at least it is very, very possible.

Oh, and the Rotary comment dates back to the 80s Buells that had the evil Barton rotary engine. Powerful but unreliable.

Wankle is a rotory engine. I thought the Barton was a water-cooled 750cc Square Four two-stroke engine?

I want a Wankle type rotory engine. I don't want a radial engine.

I could be wrong... but I am pretty sure that the Barton was a Wankle...Read it somewhere... lol

Now, a Mazda style Renisis rotary engine, would be sweetness.

*EDIT* Just looked it up, I was wrong. The Barton was the two stroke. Still, a rotary would be sweet though.

Why only 200? Diesel has a higher energy content than gasoline (15% more), that would be about 290 miles per tank instead of the usual 250ish. : )

Umm, why? With a rotary we would go from having more torque than an 1125 to less torque than a Blast. Seems like lots of revs and no torque is exactly opposite from what Buell owners want- not to mention that horrible rotary sound. Just mentioning Buell and rotary in the same sentence borders on blasphemy!

Barton WAS a square-4 2-stroke and it WAS evil from all reports. AMA killed the F1 series before the bike could even see a season of development here in the States.

Hayes diesel conversions for the USMC is done just down the road here in the Desert. Those bikes can get danged near 400 miles on a tank and nearly 100 MPG highwy. We got to see some of the prototype streetbikes but with the war going on, Hayes priorities are understandably elsewhere.

I still think a diesel for dual sport and desert riding (not racing mind you) - would be awesome!

HOWEVER... the civilian Hayes diesel was going to be likely upwards of $15K

Barton = rotary valve two stroke square four, as opposed to piston ported or reed valves. Makes for good torque.

I would love to see Buell bust out a new direct injected fancy epa legal 2 stroke. Mass centralized expansion chambers anyone?

Had a Suzuki 2 stroke triple 750. The XB motor is everything that I hated that bike for not being. That bike would scorch tires though!

Not to get too far off track, but if you want to see a two-stroke, check out this project:

Kawasaki ZX-10R with modern 3 cylinder two-stroke. ~250 HP and 55 lbs less weight!

That would be cool. Back to sport bikes that sound like crazy frog. That engine looks so nice I'm sure I can't afford it, bummer.

Very few things are more exhilarating than the acceleration of a two-smoke (long as you don't launch it in to a tree, wall, car, etc).
