Another option is to see if someone will sell you one...

Get one of these...

Then one of these...second plug down.

Pin 2...Black
Pin 3...Yellow

I soldered mine, but you can easily use a pair of needle nose to crimp the ends.

Just buy one pre-made & tested and save the hassle:

That's the easy way out. If you got any brains you can build it for almost half the cost. $23 and change to build mine. I've seen them got for almost $50 on Egay....

It truly is very easy. Just strip the cable back a bit so the stranded end will slide into the pin and make connectivity. Like I said above, you can use a pair of needle nose and be fine.

ok, do i have to use a TTy serial cable? or should any USB wire with send and recieve capabilities work? If i need the TTy cable, does anyone know where i might be able to purchase this without having to go online? i checked radioshack and best buy and neither had ever even heard of the type wire?

The USB cable is not a normal off the shelf cable, there is a chip in the connector to convert it to a RS232 Serial connection.

I never ask a Radioshack employee anything. I've had to go buy something when we've been in a tight spot for work all over the U.S....90% of them don't know jack.

It may take a couple days, but Mouser is a very good company. I deal with them at work when I need a special cable. I personally recommend to go with them. I doubt you'll find the deustch connector at a local store. Order the two on the same day and they should be received the same time.
