Alright, somebody help me out here. My brother rides an '08 CityX, and as I was helping him ready it for the riding season I noticed the clutch wire form was broken and the clutch cables has burned against his header. I know I have read about this here before.

My question is this: is there a place on this board where recall info is stored/posted? I have searched the entire board, using phrases such as "clutch wire recall", "clutch wireform recall", "cable recall", "clutch recall"....to no avail.

Also, since the clutch cable is melted and resting against the header, does the warranty and recall cover someone coming to get his bike or am I going to have to drive the cage over with him and bring him home (and hope the cable doesn't completely fry)?

And finally, when was this recall issued? He bought the bike July 2008.

Thank!

Here's a link with the part no. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/340085.html?1209586181

There is a page of Tech/Service Bulletins but I don't see anything on the wireform. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/384 2/263547.html

I don't believe there is a formal recall for the part, but as an 08, it will be covered under warranty. I would request that when they replace the wireform that they use the new one. I predict they will.

They being the dealer.

I received a letter from Buell last fall concerning this. Call your local dealer for replacement. They are not obligated to pick up your bike. Be civil, tell them your concerns and they may pick it up. Twice now, my local dealer has picked up my bike for warranty work...not because they had to.

Yeah there is a formal recall for 08's clutch cable retainer, I just got mine replaced the other day. If you have to drive the bike in, just wrap a ziptie from the steering head then around the cable to keep it off of the front header.

Easy fix.

Call your dealer, explain, make certain they have/get the parts in stock.

Zip tie it (that's what I did and it worked fine) till it gets fixed.

Mine broke with 190 miles on the bike. The fix works wonderfully.
