I have a 08XB12R that was built in Aug of 07. I finally got it to the dealership for the updated clutch cable wire form that had broken. Before I could get the bike there the service light had come on. Well I dropped the bike off back on the 14th of november. When I drop it off I mention the recall on the cable, the light was on, and that there is an updated ecm reflash.

So on friday they tell me there is no driveability issue with the bike and they won't reflash the ecm. They tell me the light was on because the interactive exhaust servo went bad, and the new clutch form and clutch cable are on. I insist that they reflash the ecm and that I was having poor fuel millage issue.

So flash forward to today. I picked the bike up and they tell me The clutch cable is fixed, the servo motor replaced, and the ecm was reflashed. I ask for the paperwork showing what was done and all I get was showing where the clutch cable was repaired under recall. So I get home and plug my bike up to my ecm spy because it' s not supposed to work after the reflash right? well it hooks up and connects and fetches the maps. As I'm looking around a little further it says that the exhaust valve is turned off!

So after reading all this my question is do you think the dealership reflashed the ecm, and fixed the exhaust servo since they told me thats what was wrong, or did they just turn it off, and not reflash the ecm?

By the way I have never adjusted any of the maps or anything with ecm spy, I've just plugged it up a few times and looked at it. Thanks for your comments and opinions.

Does the servo motor still cycle? I don't know about the '08 up bikes, but on the older ones all you have to do to check is have the key on, handlebar switch off, open the throttle, flip the switch to run and see if it cycles. Check it out.

Something sounds . . . well, like you need more information. The ECM spy thing likely complicates matters.

Interesting.

Ok. I don't have a service manual yet, but I didn't plan on working on it yet either. But no matter how I turn the key on I can't get the actuator to cycle.

Not that I don't trust my dealership... The bike is running fine. I just want it to be right!!!

Again, I don't know if that will work on the '08 plus models so don't get too excited just yet. Next best thing might be to take the outer airbox cover off and take it for a ride and see if it is cycling that way?

To check the servo.
Remove outer air box cover.
Hold throttle wide open, turn on ignition.
DO NOT START.
The servo should cycle.( open, close )
On the download note.
Ask what the latest map number is,its easy to pull off the DT2.without the bike, there is a hard copy stored for EVERY download.
You could also call Buell C/S and ask them what download is in your bike now.
Just state you want it for your records, don't accuse them of not doing it until you are positive.
Remember more fly's with sugar.

ok so today I checked it and the exhaust servo is working, so I don't feel as bad. Like they said the bike was running fine. I'll check the fuel millage again to see if anything has changed on that end.

The ecm spy hooking up, working and fetching maps is what has me perplexed. I just thought it wasn't supposed to work after the reflash
