(cough)I mean, wheelie tips from the "pros" Yea I cant power wheelie (probably because I could never wheelie on a bicycle) When I wheelie, its clutchup in 1st gear starting from a stop. I get moving feathering it.. then pop it out to let the clutch slip.. then let the engine jump +3k (by sound mainly) rpms from what ever rpms I was at.. then punch it back in.. and boom.. then I run out of powerband.... not very good at em, but getting pretty consistent This one time, I was tired of running out of powerband... so I was trying something new (more throttle).. and I wheelied nice for the first few.. getting confident I pushed it more.. then too nice, and I slipped to the back of my seat legs flailing in the air and the bike wobbled around on the back wheel trying to find its center of gravity.. scared the life out of me.. luckely I chopped the throttle off and saved my @$$.... And I/it only want(s) to wheelie when I have this balls-out fearless attitude .... like if I second guess myself.. I/it will never wheelie (its the fear) Any suggestions on wheelies in general, and 2nd gear pointers? |

I would assume 2nd gear wheelie should be easy, as your input (throttle) is less abrupt. It might take some more effort to get it up. I have only tried 2nd and 3rd gear wheelies. I have yet to find the balance point so they are more like a really long duration pop up wheelie, then an actual wheelie. I would not even attempt a 1st gear wheelie, seams like it would be way to easy to find the ground |

alot of my friends tell me to reduce air pressure in the rear tire. It apparently allows for a considerable amount of control. One guy told me he ran his 636 at 12 psi |

Wheelie tips? Here's my biggest tip: Don't do it until you are comfortable enough and know your bike enough to be able to do it naturally. Following everybody else's methods will get you into trouble, having you doing unnatural things on your bike. |

I agree. Dont be a squid and hurt yourself or others riding out of your ability. I have been riding for 10 years and this year I feel comfortable on one wheel for a short time. Lowering the air pressure will stabilize it but it will just mask your newness. I am still looking for a little Honda 50 to practice on. |

Wheelie tips? Get a 13 tooth front sprocket. Then get a KLR-250 to mount the sprocket on. Then practice on that offroad. It's more fun then I should admit... |

On my 12R, in first gear I use the bounce technique, I've clutched it up in first, but I'm still a relative newb to wheelies on a sport bike. I get the bike up to about thirty, thirty five mph chop the throttle to compress the forks, and then gas it, the front comes right up and will hold up until redline. I've never gotten to the balance point either. Clutching up in first is wayy too easy from any speed under about 35 for my comfort. Second gear I've tried but haven't quite gotten it down, err up yet. |

yea I know all about the front fork method, its practically a pogo.. one time I had a nice wheelie then let it down and when it hit the horizon my throttle hand slipped and I gased it.. bounced right up a couple times, felt/looked like I was riding a bull |

pulled up my front on accident going into 2nd a couple times. seems to happen when i accelerate strongly and cleanly with a smooth shift to 2nd. generally I avoid one wheel on the street as a rule, no need to add more ammo to people's assumptions that we are all squiddys. |

Yes I do rev it up pretty high in 2nd just to get it up to BP asap, avoiding the high speed power wheelie. No feathering of the clutch whatsoever, just dump it and hold on! |

Granted he's been riding his whole life (dirtbikes and such) although he's only like 18 now. Hung out with him for a while but he's pretty much a douchebag. That's all. |

yea I bet my problem is the fear and as well as.... usually I slip the RPM to a certain point then drop the clutch and I dont keep the throttle on.... it like slip, throttle, dump-little-throttle.... like im trying to ge the bike up on its previous momentum of the engine but not continuing to gas it.... I is scared |

So do you rev more as your letting the clutch slip or you hold the throttle steady and let the clutch slip? |

Me? probably so.... yea I keep the throttle locked and steady, slip the clutch let the tack climb (steady throttle).. and then dump it I've been bikeless for too long, the way on how I do em is a bit fuzzy .... but would that be my problem??? |
