Hey All A group of us did a loop from DC down to the New River Gorge in West VA the 17th-19th. 350 miles down there, we took nothing but rural mountain roads there & back. They shut down the countries largest arch bridge so people can go repelling & base jumping off it all day & they have a big festival. It was a lot of good fun. Some of the best riding I have done in years, crazy twisties. I had elise & a weekends worth of camping gear on the Buell, killed my rear tire at 6500 miles Anyway.. I got slide show on youtube of the pics! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-Kg4j9xBs0 Oh, on the way back I actually pulled off 50MPG on my 2008 Ulysses loaded with gear & passenger, not too bad! |

Kev187, That was nice to see your video in my home state, W.Va. I haven't seen her in about 15 years. Thanks for sharing, (Message edited by point_doc on October 22, 2008) |

I do work on the HIll, I am sure you have seen my bike parked all around the house side as I commute on it almost every day. You on the hill as well? 15 years? Time to head back for a visit :-) It was a great trip! |

Some nice pics there Kev. Looks like it would've been a good run. I've just done a 2500 km ride to Cairns and back (about 1500 miles), and I too got 50 mpg, or a little better, on my 08 long. I have now got 5400 kays on the clock (about 3400 miles), so I'm wondering if the motors loosening up is responsible? I seem to have a bit more go as well (which is never a bad thing!) Haha, I thought I recognized it! Yeah, I'm in LHOB - used to commute on the XB from Ballston, but moved into Chinatown a couple years ago. Lots of crazies on 66 in the morning. Every now and then I roll in on the weekends though and park by you if I see your bike by the So Cap entrance. I figured one of these days we'd bump into each other. I'm actually heading out to Skyline tomorrow, hoping to get some pics as good as yours. PM me if you want company on a ride one of these days! |

Yeah, I work on the hill, I sent you a PM! check out www.dcrats.com we post all the local rides in the DC area there. It was/is the local triumph group that has evolved into the local non-mainstream bike group of sorts. Always unique bikes out on the local day rides! |
