Hey guys. Posted this somwhere else, might be more appropriate here. We put the forks, and shock off of a Lighning SL on my 03 Firebolt to lower it. Everything went smooth. its not as low as I though it would be but oh well. Anyways, now there is something wrong with the rotor, brake or wheel. The bike will not push well, there is alot of resistance and noise coming from he back caliper/rotor. My buddy might've messed up the rotor when we jacked up the back under the swingarm but he doesnt think he did. Is there anything else that couldve possibly happened to explain why the back brake/rotor are touching and the wheel won't roll? (Message edited by b00stzx3 on September 25, 2008) |

Is the rotor between both brake pads? I've seen some one once, in a haste, sandwich a rotor between the pads and the caliper of his Sportster. It was caught & resolved immediately by said fella in a hurry. And no. It wasn't me. I swear. I was out of the country at the time. .. so don't ask me how I was there to see it! Ok, it miggght have been me.

LOl you sure it wasnt you? I'm not really sure. We didn't rush it, but we were drinking plenty of Bud Light. Maybe a bad idea, but we can't work in the garage without some beer now. Do you think if I post some pics that would help? |

Thanks for the help guys. i will post pics today after work. I was just wondering if the rotor is supposed to have a "bowl" effect? My dad thinks its slightly warped from something that happend while riding. we rode it with the lowered front forks but stock rear, maybe screwed up the rotor huh? Pics later, thanks guys! My dad really insist the rotor bent/warped. How could that happen though?!?! I rode it, my friend rode it. Nothing wet, nothing too fast just around my parents neighborhood. Weird. Bud light....??? That is the problem! just FYI...there are several of us here in WI that are doing everything we can to improve the taste and quality of Budweiser beers. how? we drink beer brewed in WI, and then piss it into the WI river, and it heads to St.Louis. others connected to the upper mississippi are encouraged to join in...Bud needs all the help it can get! as far as the brake disc: are you sure it's the disc? i once hung up the brake pad on a nighthawk when the spring-clip became mis-aligned during the r&r the disc is easy to check for warp, pull it off and lay it on a piece of glass |

Just take the caliper off, make sure the pads are seated right, and make sure the caliper piston is not stuck. It is only two bolts... |

Thanks for the help guys. My dad decided that the rotor was "warped" and tried to hammer it straight, whiel I was at night school. Neverless, I need a new rotor. He wont even touch the caliper because he belives its the rotor, and that he knows more about Buells than anyone on here. He's such an sometimes. If he screrwed up, I'm going to be very pissed at him because he keeps telling me not to even touch the caliper, even though thats probably the problem. |
