Its seems like I've been going on more long rides and was wondering what other people are brining with them on their trips for tools or parts. Even though the longest trip I have done so far has been about a 1,000 miles I haven't had any problems other then a broken front exhaust hanger I just got this weekend. I usually bring oil, funnel, 1/2 wrench, 9/16 wrench, leatherman tool, and the little buell tool kit. Any suggestion to what else I should bring?

I've usually just brought some allen keys in addition to the tool kit. Not sure there's much else you could do roadside on these bikes...

It is a dilema....to be ready for anything that might happen (but probably won't) you'd need a chase truck.

I just try to keep my bike in good shape, and take along the progressive suspension tubeless tire repair kit. It has one big co2 cartridge, glue, plugs and plug tool.

It is one of Murphy's laws...whatever you are ready for, won't happen.

I'm sure this has probably been mentioned before but,,, One thing you could do is, go around your bike see what tools will fit what nuts, bolts, fasteners, torx heads, etc, etc. and pack those. along with some tape, wire, zip ties, tire repair. basically all you're going to be able to do on the side of the road is tighten loose fasteners, change spark plugs, plug a tire. anything more involved than the very basics will require a chase vehicle, garage, dealership. perhaps one of the most important items to pack would be a cell phone.

Credit card and cell phone

A tire repair kit is a good idea. Aside from that, the tools that come in the bikes tool-kit will cover most of what you could actually do on the side of the road.

A copy of the BRAN. If you'll drop me a PM with the states you'll be traveling through, I can send you a personalized BRAN in excel format.

All I carry besides the little tool kit that came with the bike is a small multi tool, a tire plug kit and a small air compressor.

Buell has a really decent roll-up tool kit. The kit that comes with the bike isn't going to get you very far.

Part number - and retail cost:
94685-03Y $99.95

If you're riding solo, take a tire plugger and some means of getting air into the tire. If you're in a group, it's easier to share the load. I have a little "Slime" brand cheapie 12V inflator. Small, packs well. Haven't had to use it myself but have had to plug a buddy's tire and re-inflate his.

Ditto - cell phone, credit card and AAA membership upgraded to cover motorcycle.
