For those of you that have this set up, and are not running rear signals, (I know this is not DOT compliant) what are you doing with the two mounting holes on each side of the grater for the signals?

Say what??? The part that had those holes was removed during the modification !!! IMO, if ya didn't remove that part, it would look WORSE than the stock set-up.

Packrat is saying. Most people cut off the portion that had the holes for the turn signals.

We are talking 'bout the same holes, I just naturally figured you'd be removing the cheese grater to tidy-up the rear!! Possibly get some chrome "spikes" with threaded stud mounted to them ---HD guys use a lot of that sort of stuff, so check your local hd stealership.Spikes, skulls, etc, etc, etc.

I had mine filled in by a local welder and then had the tail and frame rails powder coated.

Just a warning.. most states require turn signals to be spaced a minimum of 2 inches away from the tail/brake light.

I use an integrated tail light too, where each half of the light doubles as each signal.. but it's not legal.

Correct. In fact in no state are integrators legal. DOT requires a certain surface area as well as brightness for turns also. The stick lenses barely meet the size requirement, so that should give you the idea...nothing smaller passes. No matter tho- cagers don't see them no matter what you put on: use hand signals anyway!

Texas does not require turn signals. If you don't show them during inspection is it still a problem?

In NJ the bike needs to have working binkers of appropriate size and brightness if there are provisions for blinkers on the bike. In other words, if you have a switch to operate blinkers then they have to be on the bike and work. If you don't have a switch for blinkers then you pass based on the assumption that you use hand signals.
