Well, I found a great deal on a brand new 1 piece leather racing suit. Prospeed makes it. Not many have heard of them so i dont expect it to be an alpinestars or custom leather suit. 375 isnt bad at all! It retails for around 650-700. Im stoked. Going to go pick it up tomorrow. Ill have to put some cash together for boots, but in the meantime i can wear my army issue boots. Hopefully it wont be TOO dorky looking for my "spirited" rides. If so thats fine, I bet if i meet the asphalt I wont care how stupid I look if I dont have any road rash! Anyone here ever wear a one piece? |

Yup. Got a set of Fieldsheers. Hardly state of the art, but it serves its purpose:

i also have a fieldsheer. like Jaimec said it isn't state of the art. but it definitely does it's job. once you ride with it on. you will feel naked when you are not wearing it when riding.
the only down side to wearing a full suit on the street is it can be a pain in the a$$ when you are taking a break. i ended up and bought a nice pair of jo rocket leather riding pants. i wear them with my icon jacket. when i am street riding.

I dont have the boots yet :/ They dont look as bad as I thought they would though. I can stand a little harrasment until the new boots come. If I dork it up before they get here, as long as I get up and say "damn that sucks" not "aaw my skin" |

Don't feel ashamed of your footwear, I wear my Redwing workboots.....too cheap to buy some A-stars......BTW...how does Fieldsheer stack up in the riding gear world? Say on a scale of Wal Mart to Bates? Anybody have the Fieldsheer "adventure," jacket? (Message edited by ironken on September 07, 2008) |

I was just messing with you cuz I noticed that they were ACU boots. Its better to look goofy and be safe then to look good and end up hurt. |

I have a feildsheer two piece textile suit. I like it. The thing really is waterproof, pretty good armor comes with it too. |

I just bought some frank thomas leathers. they fit me well. I originally order as set from leathersparadise.com (ebay) and they were descent quality, but the fit was bad. They will fit non athletic people well. Ie skinny legs and pot belly. The frank thomas were 500, but they came with a free set of $130 gloves. |

By the way, does "squid" refer to any rider of a Japanese sportbike, or any rider who wears full leathers? (Message edited by hooper on September 07, 2008) |

I thought a squid was the guys that ride sport bikes and don't wear any gear. like the dumb @$$'s that rid down the road with shorts, flipflops, a tank top, and a baseball cap on a busa. |

Each time I look at this thread I find myself singing: "fat guy in a leather suit..." It gets me every time. Oh, and there's no offense intended- it's just one of those movie lines that tickles me. |

Oh man...I was vacationing in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine this week - and if I had a $50 dollar bill for every rider who a) was wearing no helmet (easygoing laws up there); b) wearing shorts; c) wearing running shoes (but they didn't look like runners); or, d) wearing t-shirts, I'd be a wealthy man (Harley or Japanese/Italian sportbike - I only saw one BMW rider who wasn't wearing serious gear...only saw one Buell, a Firebolt). No squids. Hell, I'm such an ATGATT nerd now that I could tell that some of the young sportbike whippersnappers in Cranston, RI were wearing helmets that were too big for them! They wear those armored-back vests like they'll save their lives. Ugh. The more the better, and for them, the slower the better. (Message edited by hooper on September 07, 2008) |

I will always wear a helmet but I'm bad about not wearing my jacket. Working at USF I see guys riding with flip flops and shorts on all the time. Florida can be ridiculous with the heat some days. As hypocritical as it sounds if I take the interstate I wear my jacket but I'll be soaked when I get to work and then have to go deal with customers...I've tired 3 different type of H/D jackets. I need to find something that will let me breath but also protect. |

By the way, though I kinda "skimped" with the leathers (I bought them when I was "poor" and the Fieldsheers were the only affordable one piece suits I could find) I DO have top of the line Held gloves and Oxtar boots in that photo up there. My original Fieldsheer gloves and boots are long gone. |

Squids are Dumb F'rs riding in shorts, or riding in full gear and have a hot chick in flip flops daisy dukesetc....... Fieldsheer- is quality, they started with making snowmobil apparel. I have a M3 jacket that saved my hyde in GA. with the matching textile pants! I have a one piece that fits perfectly and breathes really well. I've had a pair of their gauntlets for about 4 years. The only thing I have had to do to any of them is rub some leather conditioner, basic maintenance. Yea I believe that Fieldsheer is great quality for the price. |
