I have two really nice H/D riding jackets. Also have a Dickies jacket that is nice to wear. The Buell selection is pretty terrible at most dealerships. Wear what you want that will protect you. As suggested above, Icon has a ton of nice stuff as well.

It wasn't until I got a Buell that I allowed myself to wear HD t-shirts and jackets and such. I figured the payment I sent to HD finance every month made it OK.

I did have a biker chick give me a hard time in a mall parking lot once about wearing a Bar and Shield t-shirt on a 'crotch rocket' (I hate that term). She was dumb and fat... and apparently spent a lot of time being put up wet, too.

If it works for you, don't worry about what anyone else thinks... you can't hear them while you are riding.

DJ, I believe the correct term for someone like that is "Moped".....as in fun to ride until your friends see you on it

I am glad im not the only one that despises the term "crotch rocket" that sounds more like a name for a woman's play thing than a motorcycle.

I ride a firebolt and too hate the "crotch rocket" thing. I always tell people if it was a normal "crotch rocket" they wouldnt be staring at it with such amazement. A Buell isnt a ride, Its a statement.

I gotta chime in here.

I rode around for years with my HD jacket w/ large Buell patch on the back. I just bought a Softail two months ago, and ride around with my Buell/Vanson leather. That jacket is just way too nice to let sit around when I'm not on the Buell. I can't monetarily justify buying another jacket just because only one of my bikes is a Buell. It's a nice coat and I paid for it. I'm gonna rock it for all it's worth.

I hate "crotch rocket" as well -- you could call any thing with a seat you straddle and an engine that. When people utter the word around me I tend to growl and give them the F off look involuntarily. By the way, yes, that means HD makes "crotch rockets" too...big, heavy, slow, chromey ones!

Hahahahahahahah, they can't catch me to kick my arse though -- 'cause my 12R can actually get around corners without leaving sparks and I weigh less that a metric ton!

Seriously, the only thing I will ever criticize is someone not wearing armor -- never the armor they ARE wearing (though wearing a Honda jacket on a Buell would be pushing it a bit). Anyone likely to give you crap is probably wearing a brain bucket and a vest as their armor and cares more about polishing chrome so it looks purdy than wrenching on their engine so it runs right.

Personally, I'd tell them they can buy the gear from you anytime -- price $1199.99 -- and you will be more than happy to go get the gear they think you should be riding with. Mmmmmmmmm, full Alpinstar riding leathers (with some extra beer money)!

Beieve me, she was so unattractive, you'd have to put a paper bag on your head if you wanted to ride her... because you wouldn't want even yourself to see you on it.

Moped? Hell... I'd it. Riding around on one in full racing gear would be a hoot.

I'm kind of against the tide on this one. I believe you should wear what you want. But, I find a bad attitude that surrounds the ger-animal look. (lots of black leather accented by a 'HD shirt from some far away dealership')

begins...in two...one
I am so disapointed with my dealership and a large portion of our local Harley riders (This doesn't include every person who has ever owned a Harley.) . . . I ground the cast HD shields off my motor. No where on my bike can you find a Harley-anything.

Now don't get this wrong, I don't dislike Harley Davidson. I loath the Harley riders themselves. I am tired of going to bike nights to see so many of the HD-inspired bickering over who has the better chrome this or that, are spokes better then cut rims, and spring front ends are worth the polishing. I have been disgusted with the remarks about my street-legal bikes (CR500AF, RC51, XB12STT) by people who trailer their damn bikes to Sturgis. (we are only six hours away!) Bikes were meant to ride, not to be trailered to a 'Bike Rally.'

I have always found motorcyclists to have a kinship with each other. The majority of the riders in the area drop the clutch hand for everyone (scooters to Busa's). But those arrogant, mild-life crisis HD owners turn nose and spew noise from their drag pipes at the sight of my bike next to them on the highway. (these same folks bitched about my 12" subs in the mid 90's)

Wear what you want, but if the dealership's lack of Buell gear is the reason for HD gear . . . that is kind of sad. If you love Harley, wear Harley. But if you want Buell, get on the internet and get a what you set out for. Dealerships are always over-priced anyway and I can usually find a ton of anything with as much time as I spend on this forum alone. The dealership gets their money out of me when I need to pay for overpriced service or parts.

Sorry about that, Tender Subject
Kind of like the 'crotch-rocket' thing.

If you are looking for a good deal on gear:
http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/
They don't have the Buell gear, but they have a good selection.

These folks have the best customer service around. They are not just another warehouse shipping out gear. They have a retail store in Kansas City. I have bought tons of gear from them and they remember my name.

P.S. I'm a Nebraska Football Fan and Alumni (thus BigRedWood), but I no longer go to Memorial Stadium because of the poor sportsmanship of those that drink the juice. There is a big difference in appreciating something versus being arrogant about it.
Yes we are still rebuilding . . . Go Big Red.

I don't care what anyone rides or wears, or whether they initiate a wave or return one, or whether they trailered their bike from across the street... but if you are blasting music out loud and I can hear it, I'm going to have a problem with you, too. That's a MAJOR pet peeve of mine, one I will not tolerate.

That kind of inconsiderate behavior is just as inane as someone sitting there revving the bejeesus out of their motorcycle (of any make).
