I looked at a few XB9s today. Really liked them, They fit me well. At one HD dealer they had a 2006 9SX for $7800 with 12,XXX miles. The bike was in excellent condition. I thought that was high. So I went to another HD dealer. They had a brand new 9SX for $8000.

How much do you think I could talk them down on the price of the 06?

2 grand if you have cash. If you do have cash, then you shouldn't be looking at a dealer. Even if you don't have cash, get a loan from your bank and buy private. I wonder how they can justify that price on a used 06 with 12k miles, ridiculous!

I'm having a really hard time finding a xb9 locally. They're even sparse on ebay. I'd like to spend less than $5k on an xb, but I cant seem to find any.

check with the other bike shops in your area. all the non harley shops. i have seen several xb's go for good prices because the owner bought one without really knowing what they want.

That dealer is asking that much ($7,800) because there ARE people (un-informed) that will walk in and buy it for that price, no questions asked !!! I used to manage a Kaw/Indian dealership and I can tell ya, the more money I made for the company, the happier the owner was !!! I have put stupid high prices on bikes and had guys walk in and write a check for them...Shame on them, that's what they get for not doing their homework!!! With the internet now, ALL information is available to EVERYONE---I was in the business to make money for my owner (and me ) it's called free enterprise. If they walked in and asked to "get bent" I would indeed "bend 'em over".

I have an 2006 with 25k on it, your wallet isnt thick enough, your check is no good, and I could care less about your credit...
I get rather stingey with MY bike, but I do know where some are on the showroom floor available for you. Come do a fly and ride, your trip back home will just be the start of your memories on the bike.

Dtmb,

that 06 with 12,000 miles sure is clean! Go in and talk to Job Powell and tell him Jeff Marsh sent you, I bet he will give you a much, much better price. Where at did you see that 09 for 8,000?

Also, as soon Ameican gets their Black 1125CR in(sept 19)..My 06 city will be for sale. 9,500 miles and around $5,800 if youre interested

Why anyone would buy a used bike from a dealer is beyond me. My guess is no money and bad credit. The dealer will be glad to screw you and finance the ass raping for you.

I am about to put my Black XB9S up for sale (probably getting a 1125CR in the Spring). It's clean and mechanically 100%. I'll be asking less than 5k for it. I'll send you a PM.

BTW,I am in Cleveland.

blue/}

It was at Biker Bobs (Motorcity HD). It wasn't a 09 it was a end of season 08. Sorry for any confusion.

Do you work at american or do you just go there a lot?

Why would I look at a dealer? Because for nearly the last month I've been looking for a XB9 and cant find them anywhere but ebay and dealers.

Thank you for the kind words about my financial status. I was not aware that being 21 and having a credit rating of well over 700 was a bad thing. I guess doing reckless things like paying off a car loan a year and a half ahead of time would hurt my credit so much.

If only you were there to guide me in my formative years moostang.

Not all dealers have a personal vendetta against ya Moostang. Some of us work pretty hard to get a bike to a customer. And if it wasnt a good deal for the rider, then we would have to open a museum and quit selling them at all. Just charge an admission fee to come and look.

I went to the HD dealer to talk some numbers about the 06 with 12k miles.

I told them about the other bike I looked at and they were quick to offer a lower price. The sales guy talked to his manager and told me that I could have it for the rock bottom price of $6800. They said that the sales managers brother-in-law used to own the bike and they gave him a high trade in on the bike and they're only going to make $150 off the bike. I really didn't believe them, so I left my cell # and left.

hell at that price we might buy it, ship it, and put it on our floor. I cant keep City-X's in stock. It is our number one seller.

Glass maybe be half full, glass maybe half empty, but if somebody else steals the decanter and drinks it all, then it really doesnt matter.

ouch. well, it could be because I was a moron that didn't know what I was doing when going out to buy my first bike (certainly a possibility), but I prefer to think it was because NO ONE ELSE was selling one.

Honestly, I was going to get a nice used blast or mini ninja, but I kinda panicked when I found out the bike of my dreams was rarely stocked, and hard to find used. Got it for KBB value (5,900 out here), prolly coulda talked them down, but my Dad stranded me at the dealership because he had to work. I'm guessing that made me look more than a little vulnerable...

Edit: like the moron I am, I left out that it was a 2005 model.

I was doing the same. Looking for a 9sx for the warden. Gail's HD in Kansas City has a '07 Hero Blue with 4,665 miles. It still carries the warranty for a bit also. They quoted me 6,200 out the door. (over the phone)

http://www.gailshd.com

It is in the showroom>pre-owned buell

Maybe worth a fly and a drive back. I have family in KC and maybe I can help ya get a ride to the dealer.

I have no problem buying a new bike from a dealer, but their used prices plain suck! There were a few used buells at dealers in my area, but I never even bothered to look at them because of the asking prices. I don't need the hassle of haggling with a dealer when they are already $2000 over priced. Dealers don't even seem to care that you have cash. They rather finance the thing to some dumb kid at 22% interest.

Dtmb, sorry you got butt hurt. They make some ointment for that. Paying a car off early is not necessarily the best thing for your credit score. Better than defaulting though. My credit score is well over 800 and all I do is pay my bills on time. Been doing it for 16 years now.

Judging by the asking price, it must be at a dealer! I saw so many lightning for sale on ebay that were in Arizona! I'm surprised you couldn't find one.

Moosestang, considering that you are new here.. I'll give you a little tidbit of advice. You may find it a more enjoyable stay here if your posts contain a little less of a "holier than thou" ring to them. Especially when they are directed at new members, as this may give the new member a bad outlook on us, and drive them away.
No one here wants to drive new members away.

Do what you will with this advice.

Dtmb, have you checked out the classified section here on badweb? I noticed a few CityX's for sale in there.

I think Propower418 is on the money.

I too bought a new leftover 06 in the Fall of 07. Paid $6900 + $50 doc fee for mine.

It has been a sweet ride. I am glad I didn't wait on an 08. Especially since I get between 48 and 52 mpg!

I bought my 07 xb9sx fall of 07 with 1900 miles on it for 7000.00 out the door with a helmet jacket and two year warranty and no money down. Found it at a suzuki/honda dealer that couldnt get rid of it. They had it listed for 8600.00 Only took four hours and walking out of the dealership twice to come to a price that I wanted. If only I woulda gotten a little better interest rate. But 12% is pretty good for being 20 with good credit but not much history.

Erm, that's not quite a CityX. And that's farther than I'd travel to look at used bike. And there may be a couple CityX's available now. But I was looking a month or so ago.

I don't love dealerships or anything, the ones out here can be pretty snooty. I don't think financing used vehicles is particularly wise, but sometimes, they really do cut you a decent deal. They actually do a few percent better than what my credit union quoted me, the same credit union that gave me my pretty damn decent 30 year fixed.
