Hey everyone. I was able to get my hands on the CityX airbox cover "X" and was just curious as to what could be used to mount it. I know 3M makes some good plastic bonds and such. Thanks in advance for the input Ben |

Well I would use something that can be removed, so no two part epoxies. I would probably just use the double sided automotive tape made by 3m. You can buy it at any autoparts store in rolls. Why did you want the X? I think most people remove them. |

Quite a few people like them. Unfortunately you can't buy them separately from Buell. |

actually, it is a fairly sought after piece of kit. Buell (to my understanding) no longer makes bikes with the X. And there wasn't too many made... and you cannot buy the tanks with them, or just the X. Kind of a collectors item. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't you just remove yours Moosestang? If so, drop it in the classifieds. It should sell fairly quick. As a matter of fact... I have a little project I wouldn't mind having one for. How much would you like for it? BACK TO THE MAIN TOPIC: What about grip glue? Would that be a possibility? Or not a strong enough hold? |

I wanted the X because I got the bike with out it. The person before me switched out the blue for all yellow. So I installed the updated airbox "grill" to the cover and now I am able to add the X to it. It really will look great to add a more black to a mostly yellow CityX. Not many people have a black and Yellow 07 Xb9sx too. Especially with the X on it. Thanks for the input guys. Ill try the double stick tape and see how that works. Is that kinda what it uses originally? |

Mine was all ready removed, but i'm supposed to get the stock parts Saturday, so maybe. ...? ok. its not a high pressure situation. If it works out... good deal. If not, no big loss. (sorry if i am taking that the wrong way... just seemed a little, "well, i'll think about it... and if you are lucky") |

Wasn't it Toona who was looking into making them? I seem to remember that someone had made a mold, and at least one prototype... I'd like to see one in a different color! |

ummm... they've been on all city crosses to date. http://www.buell.com/en_us/bikes/street/XB9SX/feat ures.asp# and you should be able to order an airbox cover (a cityx color) and it'll come with it on it. |

I would think you could order the part by itself from a dealership? The 09s still have the plastic X on the tank. |

The 09 CityX still has the X. The other 09's even with the CityX colors do not have it. It is not available from a dealer, your only option at this time is to order a Hero Blue or Kick Ash air box and specify that it's from a CityX, or get one that was removed by someone else. That is my air box cover, it came with the X, I specified I wanted Hero Blue from 06 CityX, that way I get the American Motorcycle decal too. |

If anyone wants to buy an "X" off an 08 SX just let me know and what would it be worth anyway. Replacing my "X" with a padded seat for highchairs since i can't dent the "tank" in like most other sportbikes. |
