Looking to maybe get a pair of bars for the SS> AM looking at something like the older style Z bars. Basically, I want them to come up and go forward. but I have to be able to clear the adjusters.

Looking for something in a nice black. Harder lines like Nash Gimps, or Ness bars would be cool, but I don't want to go that high, maybe 6 or 8 up. Forward too. So it shifts my weight forward, but leaves me close to steering axis.

Crossroads are nice, but they would put me lower. Just basically want to move forward without moving down. A little up would be better. Long term project, so any bars that you might know of that would fit, or maybe new risers if the need arises, in order to go into a one inch bar.

Any help, suggestions, etc, are welcome. I could stand to go a little sick.

Geez, no one has ever gone forward with the bars? I have seen the clubman bars, but they are adjustable. Are there one inch risers (bar size) for the Buell?

I just feel like maybe doing something different.

I remember a thread a while back started by someone who was making his own Z bars. I don't recall if he ever posted a picture of a finished product. I can't find it in the archives either.

Convertibars are cool, but I am looking for something that will lift the bars up about the level of the top of the flyscreen, and forward. Might be nice if the bars wrapped around the gauge package.

Blacked out would be cool too. Nash Gimps are wild, but they only come in like 12 and up. These would be up maybe 6 to 8.

i think it was me who asked about making some z-bars. i remeber cuz i stepped on a lot of toes, and recieved a few nasty-grams. i'll fire up the camera, and post up if ya'll wanna see.

i found some bars at oldbikebarn.com under the cafe racer section. they looked like they'd work. i called and spoke to a guy who confirmed the measurements. having made my own, i'd say it's just easier to buy 'em. unless your time is free, and your bored off your adz!

definately not copper. i guess the green carpet plays with the colors a bit.
it's monel, actually. we had some just layin' around the shop, beggin to be made into a set of handlebars it was meant for steam piping (really thick walled) so i had to install some fracture lines so they will break before the tripple tree does.

thanks, Not_. they really fit my build alot better than the stockers. same reason Stretchman is lookin for a set. well, Stretchman, you could always go "custom"!! then you'll get compliments on them...

Those look good. Are they more comfy? I like the idea, but think I need to go up a little higher.

Did the stock cables work?

That's awesome! Much cleaner look an most of the others! What are the measurements by the way? On the bars.....not the boobage! I think I'd like to make a set of those myself.

trac95ker made these for me and they work very well. They are comfortable in the corners and around town.

stock cables worked, but i had to drill out a 1/2 inch hole for the throttle cables and a 5'8 incher for the clutch under the instrument cluster. larger holes for some gromets to prevent chaffing.
i'll post up later with more...

as requested......drumroll please

measurements: 27 1/2 wide, center piece is 9.5" at middle of cut, z sections are 3", and each arm is 10.25". i cut them at 40 degrees for the arms, and sanded them until it looked right. tack-welded, and tried em' out for a feel. no real science to it. and you can angle them down, like -7 degrees or whatever by rotating them in the clamp
