The only wheels (including the 1125R) that are different are the Uly wheels. They are cast with approximately 1lb more aluminum in each wheel in the rim in order to strengthen the lip against off road damage. I have a set of the S/R wheels on my Uly, but don't use them off road. You can interchange any of the wheels between models. |

One more question..promise.. I'm putting XB12 wheels on my M2. The problem is the bearings ID is too big (30 mm). I read here somewhere that the XB9's have a 25 mm axle. Can anyone confirm that? If they both share the same OD (55mm) All I'll have to do is replace the 12's bearings with the 9's inner sleeve and bearing and I should be in good shape. |

The 9 and 12 ID is the same. You will need to find aftermarket bearings with the 25mm ID and 55mm OD. |

You will need to find aftermarket bearings with the 25mm ID and 55mm OD. I'm doing a search at applied.com. That combination does not seem to exist. Will XB forks fit on the M2? That would solve the problem of mounting the brakes as well. |

When swapping wheels with a larger ID bearing to a smaller OD axle, I have always made my wheel spacer as one piece with a larger diameter for the spacer portion, and then a smaller diameter that takes up the "gap" between the bearing and the axle. It's also nice because it holds the spacers for you on wheel installation. The smaller portion just needs to be long enough to extend past the bearing and center the bearing spacer, since the axle isn't big enough to do it. I'm sure the Badweb has produced more ingenious results, but that's what I do. I like my way because I don't have to hunt for oddball bearings in the future, and neither do future owners. It also eliminates the "Is this a safe bearing to use" question. |

Will XB forks fit on the M2? That would solve the problem of mounting the brakes as well. XB forks will not fit the M2 trees. You'll have to swap the trees out as well. |

I've always thought that the M2 would look cool with the XB wheels. Swapping out the triple trees shouldn't be that big of a problem and would solve lots of problems regarding the breaks, bearings, and axle. Then you are simply looking at solving the rear wheel issue. |

Swapping over the entire front end will be fairly easy. I did it to an XL, and the M2 is not that different. You'll need to either go with an XBS upper triple/headlight, or get the Tuber 54mm headlight and clamps. You'll need to press out the XB steering stem and press in your M2 stem. I spent a couple of weeks looking for the bearings you mentioned, and they don't exist. Your best bet is to make a spacer like the others have talked about, or if you're really adventurous, get a 30mm axle made and modify your swingarm and adjusters. I don't know if the M2 has a 25mm axle, but Hal's makes wheel bearing spacers for about $25 each to fit the XB wheel to the 25mm axle. (Message edited by PuddlePirate on February 17, 2008) |

Are you the guy that dented your gas tank because the trees hit them? I thought about swapping the stem but I had sold the M2 trees to fund the XB's and wasn't about to buy ANOTHER set of trees to find out. Thats good to know though for others attempting this in the future. The M2's rear axle is 25mm. To ream another 5mm out of the swingarm just seams iffy to me. I hate to change the way thngs are engineered and dont know if by doing that would it possibly effect the swingarms structural integrity. Who is Hal's? Please tell me more! |

Yep. I'm one of the guys who dented his tank because the trees hit them. Were you trying to take a cheap shot there? Good thing I was planning on repainting anyway. I don't know what the difference is in length between the M2 steering stem and the XL one, but these guys sell steering stems. Only $32, might be worth a look instead of buying an M2 set of triples, just to use the stem. The bearing spacers are here... http://www.halspa.com/ShopByBikeDetails.asp?B=BUEL L Very last 2 items on the page. |

Just saw your profile. You are him. I looked at your thread a few hundred times. Is this a picture with the XB or S1 stem installed? Looks like the XB only because it appears too long. The top of that stem should be flush with the top of the tree.

Yep. That's the XB stem. The S1W stem I used proved to be just a hair shorter than I needed as well. It was useable for me, but it was about 5/16" short of the top of the stem clamp. I'll finally be getting my bike out of winter storage from the in-laws house about 1.5 hours away this coming weekend, and I was planning on swapping out the steering stem with an XL one, since it is about 1/2" longer. If you'd like, I'll sell you my S1 stem so you don't have to worry about buying a new set of triples just for the stem. PM me if you're interested. |
