From Wikipedia:

Because of their powerful engines, Grand Tourers can still compete with many sports cars(Bikes) in top-speed and acceleration. Grand Tourers excel at high speed, long distance travel or races and make more practical daily drivers than sports cars(Bikes).

The 1125R would make a great Sport-Touring, or Grand Touring platform. All it needs is a set of bags!

maybe with some aesthetically better luggage. on second thought no, if you want bags and a tall windshield, go get a grandpa glide.

What's with the hate?

Its not like the bags don't come off when you feel like doing a track day.

Sport Touring bikes are a well established genra; witness the VFR, K1200 GT, Sprint ST, etc.

Just because a guy can appreciate hard luggage on a multi-day trip doesn't mean he should have to ride a 700+ pound barge.

What's with you guys? If all you care about is looking fast and riding the track (even E.B. asserts that the 1125 is not a track bike) then maybe you guys are the ones who need to look at a different bike.

i just dont think this was intended to be a touring bike... look at all the ads and hype. even the buell website introduces it as a sportbike featuring pictures of it ont he track etc. i believe that is the market they were trying to break into with this bike.

What part of "SPORT-touring" don't you get?

You are correct Paintballtommy! The 1125r is not a touring bike..... but what we're all hoping for is a sport-touring bike based off that platform in the coming years.

Why would an 1125R Sprint not be possible?

I like to go around corners fast.
I like to go places far away.
I like my gear to be clean and dry when I arrive.
I've wanted Buell to build a sport tourer since they stopped making the S3-T.
I'm going to have to demo an 1125R; if the Helicon motor feels as good as the air cooled motor, then I'll be lobbying for a GT as well.
If it doesn't; well, I still have my Uly.
Sounds like a win-win situation to me.

All of the above as Crusty stated, exactly why I still ride a 10yr. old s3t.
The replacement has yet to be made.

+1 add me to the list of GT purchasers

If they build something that would draw me away from my desires for a K1200gt than I am all game.

If they can keep it under $14k I think I would get in line.

Yes, that's what I've been wanting for a long time as well. Something me and my wife can use to go on more than a day trip.

Oh, that's even better than the Uly tail...

That bike, with those radiator pods, was just needs saddlebags. They look so natural and at home back there.

I must say though, I think the S3T tail is bigger than that. In the pic its been shrunk to fit a little...

Still, the shape of the S3 bags fits the 1125 better than the uly ones....

Oh, fitful sleep wrought with impossible desires, how cruelly I am tormented by these daydreams!!

I'm respopnsible for that 1125R/S3T bastard child pic.

The tail may be a little larger in person. The photo of the S3T I used was smaller than the 1125R, so I may not have grown it enough.

Anybody know the width of the frame spars on the 1125? Fabricating a subframe can't be the hardest challenge. The seat pan would need to be modified and then re-upholstered.

I have a spare tailsection to loan for fabrication.

OK, I'd buy it. I might have to force the kids to drop college and let the bank take the house, but that's too Buell to let go by.

I know my S2 with wide bags, "T" fairings and tank bag turned a couple heads and generated a lot of questions at the Pocono 1125r day...not just other folks there for the rides, but heads wearing factory shirts. I can only hope...because having ridden the 1125, it's worth every bit of the hype. My S2 felt like a dump truck by comparison on the ride home, LOL.
