Cross post from EBR Buell section, but I thought it was worth putting here as well -

I can tell you from experience that this Dominator racing oil is THE shit in the 1190RS. I have seen a dramatic difference in wear in the engine since switching from the 20/50. After almost a full season of racing, the timing chain guides look brand new. This is a big change. This is not marketing hype. This stuff rocks.

Good to know. Now to find it locally.

I know you guys race, so for the benefit of the "strictly streeters", here's some info from an earlier thread on this oil:

Posted by Mortbike:

"I spoke with a tech at Amsoil yesterday and he said the Dominator 15w-50 is not recommended for street only bikes especially due to the long term effect of the extra friction modifiers on the clutch and it is not rated for use with a clutch and is not a motorcycle specific oil for streetbikes. He also said the standard 20W50 Amsoil V Twin oil is bullet proof and more than meets the needs of the streetbike. "

YMMV

Yes I know. But I have seen no negative effects on the clutch and I am pretty sure that I am really hard on it. Clutch plates are cheap compared to main bearings and cam lobes. I'm gonna run it in my streetbike. I'll let you know how it goes.
I was using Amsoil 20/50

Rodrob, can you do a UOA or two to see what condition the oil is really in? I'm about to send off a 3800 mile sample of Amsoil 10w40.

Another question--how's shifting with the Dominator 15W50?

The shifting in my Speed Triple 1050 is borderline notchy with Amsoil 10W40.

My 1125R's shifting isn't notchy per se but it's not as slick as the shifting in a buddy's CR that runs, I think, Castrol 10W40.

I have no shifting issues with the Dominator. I do have a quick shifter.

Yeah, I'll try to get a sample off for analysis as I'm repairing the bike from the crash.

Bump--I've since given my 1125R a fresh fill of Amsoil 10W40 (using up the last of what I had on hand--otherwise I would have given it the Dominator 15W50) and shifting is much better again, about on par with my buddy's fresh-oil-changed CR. So apparently the previous fill of 10W40 degraded enough in 3600 miles to result in a decrease in shift smoothness, but it must have been gradual enough that I didn't notice.

This time I'll try to pay attention to when shift quality starts to degrade.
