Great story. You will have no problem to earn money, when you joints become to stiff for the rough work at sea: Selling your written adventures.

Capt. Pete, You musta read my mind my friend. I showed the piston to a moto-friend the other day and tried to retell the events of it's demise as best I could remember. I've been sorting out Dad's shop and working its contents into my own overstuffed garage and it's given me a multitude of reasons to pause and reflect. In one of the books from his Naval history were menus and invitations for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years dinners from his stay on Guam in 1949. I thought about you being there now and stomping around the same island that he used to and thought about how much he appreciated a good story... much like the ones you've penned yourself. I really enjoyed the pump overhaul story you posted a while back and I know he would have enjoyed it too. Some things to some people are just junk but but when you add the stories they become gold. That piston is one of the coolest things in my garage. Thanks again.

Ride Safe, JB2

One more on wearing helmets.... 2 weeks ago today, I hit a dog going about 50 mph. Flew over the handle bars breaking my collar bone into 3 pieces and spraining my ankle and foot. My KBC "wolf" saved both sides of my face as I tumbled and slid over the pavement. So now I'm in a sling and unable to ride for 2 months. And to think, just a couple hours prior to this happening i was on a ride without my helmet - I don't think I'll be doing that again.

Thanks... Surprisingly, minimal damage to the X1: bent handle bars, busted mirror, bent shifter lever toe peg, and some paint and plastics damage all on the left side. All repairable with some time and money.

M1 Combat, Where did you find the KBC Airborne helmet at that price?

Hmmm, maybe I just mixed up the prices of the Force-S and the Airborne version?

I think that force-s is a way hot helmet. I currently have the KBC that they made for Buell, and have no complaints, but I love the graphics on the force-s plus they go perfectly with the jet fighter graphics that buell made, that I put on my 04 xb12r/

Capt.Pete,
Good story. Chincoteague is only 1hr. from here in Ocean City and is one of my favorite Buell destinations. I'll hoist a cold one at Capt. Fish's for you.

Ocbueller,

Nice little inlet you got there in O.C., Steve. Plenty of water, short and sweet, but right intimadating-looking on your virgin run. Picked up a crewman there once who missed the boat in Chincoteague. He called me up a half-hour after we'd sailed, crying on the radio about his starving kids. Bunch of damned dropshots in that port.

I forget the name of the bar-restaurant right up the street from the Waterman's Lounge... "Don's Restaurant," maybe. We didn't spend much time in there, but we all went back home with one of their tee shirts. Great big blue crab on the back (my mouth's watering) and copy that said: "If it smells like fish, eat it!"

(We weren't that professional, at least not around the house.)

Good to see you posting again Pete. Hope you are getting close to catching some sea monsters!

On another note...Has anyone ever heard of a shop called AMERICAN MADE CYCLES in Dayton Ohio?
If so, and you live in the area of that shop, please contact Pam at 1-800-704-4641.

Capt.Pete,
We do have a nice "commercial" harbor. You might not recognize it with all the new residential sprawl . The watermen around here do struggle with all the tight regulations and lack of docking space. Get up this way and I've got a spare Buell, I can show you the landlubbers way to Chincoteague.

I have a 2002 buell blast, and spun my rear wheel bearings at 2500 miles. Unfortunately I didnt catch this until it was to late and ruined my rim. I am trying to find an aftermarket rim that will allow me to use my stock tire, but am having no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Jim they were the good ole days and I hope not the last of them. Did you around with photo shop or something? I look awfully tubby on the poor old S1.

Pete they were Chop'sleathers and he's a BIG guy. Certainly was a lot of air inside 'em. Hot air LOL. Thankfully JVV's S1 had more than enough kick arse to get me where I was going. Anyways you old fish gutter, Pammy 'll tell you how well I scrubbed up for the casino ladies

Recently though, my thyroid went tits up mate so I had to have it removed. Problem was it got so bad it's affected my eyes with thyroid eye disease. My right eye is popped out so far of my head it looks like I got smacked in the face with a Monday morning hammer.

Things are somewhat improved though since I've been taking steroid pills. If the swelling go's down, which it appears to be doing, in the next four weeks, I might be ok in the long run perhaps with some radio therapy etc. The danger is that my optic nerve becomes damaged causing eye sight difficulties and permanent double vision. Hopefully though I'm gonna recover and I feel very optimistic seeing (seeing??) as just how this week alone the steroid treatment has removed the swelling.

Bet you wished you'd never asked eh LOL.

Tellll yyou whhat thoughgh., typppings a bitch theze dayss!

Look on the bright side, Sean. There'll be twice as many birds out there, and you can start running them down two at a time.

And Pammy's already told me about that - thing - you picked up at the casino. Doesn't sound to me like your vision was that good to start with.

Oh, hell. This sucks. Now I feel guilty picking on you. Get yourself well, mate. You ruint my day. Who am I gonna mess with now?

Rodney Dangerfield made a career out of poppy eyes. You could be the new lop-sided version.

Hey all.
It has been a long time since my last post but here goes. My bike has been down since Christmas, needs an engine rebuild, go figure, less than 30k miles on a 2000 S3 which I babied. Now I am trying to figure out what components to use to build both a monster horsepower and bulletproof engine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, anyone still in Tucson?
I haven't heard from anyone since Bartimus moved back to Phoenix.
Later....
Artful
