That description of Soju makes it sound so innocent.

The stages of Soju:
1. I'm good looking
2. I'm smart and sophisticated
3. I'm bulletproof
4. I'm invisible!!

Ferris,
You can count on my prayers as well. For all of ours in harms way. Family involvement has a way of making you keenly aware. My nephew just returned.

Dino, that's gonna be a strong day any way we slice it. thus, i'm thinkin' we need to save the Lion's Trail for next time, and bring the gang "directly" from Bakersfield up-canyon on 178. still fun, but saves time. lunch here at the Dome will have to be fast food, then we should be ok. you're in for this deal on that Friday, yes?

Pdx, lookin' very much forward to it, my friend.

Jvv, that's an awesome photo. for those that don't know, Jack rode up from the Bay Area to Mount St. Helens for Blue Groove/Northwest in '97, and the absolute BEST pix i have from the event were taken by him. (he's also responsible for the Thong shot in my profile.)

BuellieDan, i'm only ONE of the things in your list when i knock back a few, but then again, i've never sampled Soju...

Alex, your schedule looks great for me 'n Denise. (we appreciate the fact that you waited 'til AFTER Laguna Seca.) hello to Matt, and we'll see you in 130 days.

Loki, thank you, it's good to know that people care.

Timbo, same to you, it's very much appreciated. looking forward to hooking up with you for CAMS.

Greetings, Ferris. Sounds like we've got the genesis of a plan.

Now then, Mapquest says it's 205 miles from my humble abode to Kernville.

Dino says it's 285 miles from there to Midpines.

A mere 500 miler I suggest!

[Conveniently Kidcoocoo, Timbo and Caf'e Bill, should they decide to accept this mission, will have traveled a similar distance that morning]

Now, only you and Dino know how long this might take; we'll trust your judgement. But 500 miles in 12 hours or so is only a 41mph average....

Sounds like fun to me.... Can you make 41 miles in an hour on those roads?

PS. Our thoughts are with Wade...

Ferris- I'm planning to go riding that Friday.

I'm just about to go out the door. Heading to Fresno and thence back to Mariposa by way of Pine Flat, etc to confirm mileages and estimate time required for that leg. Sigh...

No wine n brag event may have to be cancelled unless we send in our applications....

fyi...I was talking with Mary from BRAG on Friday and only two apps have come in for this event....and I know that Vallejo Buell and others have put in a lot of effort so far...

It would be a shame if it was cancelled since California and the west coast has so many Buell and motorcycle enthusiasts here...

We need to get the word out and call or send in your apps to Mary, BRAG...Thanks, REX

Jim - Yep, that's me. Of course, the wife says that most of what I give is only good for makin' the roses grow better.

Anyway, checked out the last 100 mi. or so of the route and found that the portion for which I couldn't get miles from my maps were about 20 mi shorter than estimated. I averaged 40.2 mph with a short break to stretch and another for gas(and several quick stops to write down miles/time). But that average includes a very slow stretch that we will not take...the road is narrow, very tight and rough, though scenic. Two alternates are about the same distance but better motorcycle roads and considerably faster.

The scenery was great today, hills are green, wildflowers getting started, sunny skies, temps in the 70's, forgot the camera. Life is good.

Hi Dino,

It all sounds good. We've all done some goat trails before, so no worries. Whatever you and Ferris like is what we'll ride.

If Timbo rides the XB9R and Kidcoocoo rides his Cafe Sportster, we'll need to make sure we think of them for refueling.

Bill's and S3 and my S2 shouldn't pose a problem.

Dino, it was decent of you to forego any number of i'm sure more pressing duties requiring your attention today (um, like fertilizing the flowers...), choosing instead to meander thru the rolling green and flower-studded Sierra Nevada foothills all day just to make sure we show are motobuds a good time on their way thru. SB Jim is right, we ARE givers.

how far south didya get? the chunk coming north from 180/Squaw Valley to Tollhouse is the obvious choice (right?), but where from there?

ok, i've just worked 14 days straight. i think tomorrow me 'n the Thong are gonna see if we still remember how to dance.

Alex, what I'M doing is easy. what YOU'RE doing is much more difficult. the reward that me 'n D get from our tiny little contribution will be immeasurable, all for "just" being enthusiastic members of the motorcycling community.

the thanks, in more ways than one, deserve to be aimed in your direction.

see you in 128 days.

Ferris - Yesterday I joined the route a Hwy 180 and Elwood Rd (the road thru Wonder Valley to the Kings River at Piedra). Today (if WW will let me) I'm off to get times and mileages on the other roads past Bass Lake. The battery on my laptop is quickly going south. I'll post again tonight from P'ville.

Jim,
The Firebolt has a range of 120-130 miles before the reserve light comes on. I then have about 25-30 miles before it's get nervous time.

So, 150 mile range is ok for me between fill ups.

I have decided on the Ventura Rack system to turn my 9R into a 9T. Looks like it should be more than adequate for the task.

Dino, Prudnts (Cafe Sportster) was last seen wearing a 3.3 gallon tank.

Timbo, I don't expect any fuel troubles, but was letting our Planners know just in case... Sounds like you've got your XB9RT figured out. Lookin' forward to it.

Jim, no fuel worries...we just need to know what gas stations not to pass up.

After further research, the distance from Thunderdome to Midpines is about 263 miles. My current estimate is 6 hours riding time, add gas stops and breaks as needed. More research will be carried out to further refine the time estimate. Sigh.
