You are in the database... "behind Ferris"

Thanks. But since FMJ bought his in July, 1995 and my S2 says it was manufactured in Oct. '95 (on the manufacturer's label) then perhaps my S2 is #34/86 of the '96 models, correct?

Something isn't quite right....

Court, back when you guys were making those bikes you could COUNT, right?

; )

Jim,is yours registered as a 1995 model(look at your registration for model year) and did it come with the carbon fiber rear fender, cuz I think the 1996 S-2's had their rear painted a flat black sorta color. One of mine was built in 3/95 and sold in july. The early one was built 7/94 and sold in dec 94 or jan 95 to a doctor in SLC.don't remember when the one I got from E-Bear was built, just 1995.Now gonna be heading to Eric in Canada.

FMJ,

My bike was definitely manufactured in Oct. of '95 per the Buell label on the steering head.

The Title and Registration (State of CA) definitely call it a '96 Buell S2.

The only documentation per se calling it a '95 is the little timing cover which has the 95S2CA #34/86.

Perhaps they gave the PO the wrong timing cover. I dunno. That's why I questioned my placement on the list of S2 owners...

My serial # ends in 000005 if that helps any.

Oh, Paul, Paul, Paul, how time has altered your memory! Had it not been for me and my (dare I say it?) nearly Court-like silver tongue, the nice officer would doubtless have clapped the irons on the raving foreign lunatic wobbling up on the sidewalk with a small metallic object in his hand...

You owe me, mate!

Spidey,

No. You must be referring to an ebay add or similar sale item. The wheels' PAINT color was dubbed "titanium" gray. The rims are all aluminum, standard issue. Titanium wheels would be heavier than aluminum. Magnesium is the trick lightweight wheel alloy of choice for racers.

When?

Erik sold wheels, leather and such years ago. Do you mean current or way back when?

They did not come from "the Buell factory".

I ment titanium as the color sorry i didn;t clarify.
These are newer 96 or 97 aluminuim. They have a red tag wired to em, I forget what is wrote on it. The "Race Use Only" Is nere the valve stem hole. An They are Buell rims not the olde Marchesnies <sp>

Is it just me or is the Pegasis, the unique symbol of Buell fast becoming extinct? I for one love this logo and seem to be seeing it less and less in on the Buell site and it dosn't seem to appear on the XB range.

I have to agree. I never thought about it though till I read your post Madgaz. The Pegasus is on um, the key... The XB should have had a distinctive pegasus marking somewhere on the bike as well.

KLR 650 question...

Quick question about one of "our other favorite bikes"... there is a KLX-650 in my neck of the woods up for sale. Not a "gotta run out and get it now" price, but not a bad price either.

Whats the difference between the KLR-650 and the KLX-650?

I also know there are a couple issues with looking at a big thumper for a trail bike... Am I kidding myself?

1) Not a real jumper, hardcore bike. I don't think I care about this, I am not going to be racing motocross or even racing for time, I would just like to ride offroad. Kind of offroad touring if that makes any sense.

2) Big and heavy. I don't think I care about this either, as a big part of what I want to accomplish with the bike is becoming a better street rider. If I have a big heavy bike that acts like a big heavy bike, I have to know how to keep it up with control inputs to the bike (like a street bike). If I have an XR200, I get out of trouble by by just muscling it, which is handy, but teaches bad habits for the streetbike. Plus, I have no truck, so if I want to ride offroad, I have to ride on road to get there, which means I will have a big bike regardless.

So anyway, I digress. What are the differences between the KLX and the KLR? The KLX (in this case a 94) is a lot nicer looking.
