Just wanted to say I am enjoying this site immensely and thanks to Mr. Alex Prior for introducing it to me (or is that me to it?)

Fogcity,

Might want to check out your kill switch. I had one on my S1W that gave me intermitant fits for the longest time before I finally stumbled upon it. Next time it quits or won't start, try rocking it back & forth a few times. It's sorta self-cleaning.

Fogcity.
Have the shop remove the retaning clamps on the plug wires. They bolt to the head and choke control bracket. The wires could be arcing against the head.
The wires on my 2002 M2 were chafed almost to the core with just over 2k miles on the bike.

Fogcity. mysteryx1 had the same problem last year.
I found a wire on the left side between the seat and the frame that was subbed bare. Seems to me there was a service bulletin on that sometime back.

I will be at the factory on the 3rd. Thought about taking hwy 20 out, but decided to go hwy 50 to 12 & come in the back way. A little more open & will probably avoid most of the deadheads that way.

Dynarider,

When you are there, ask them it the Screaming Eagle EFI tuner, meant for Softails and Tourers, also works on DDFI Buells.

José, fer sure it won't. The type of injection used in Buells is different from Harleys.

It's time to get re-acquainted with the soon-to-be-in-one-piece S2T . So I'm heading out on a little 3 day MC trip this Friday. - if I get adventurous I might even be camping :) - I'll be heading north from NYC; Catskills, Blue & white Mountains. I'll be taking it easy, doing 2-300 twisty miles/day.

Can anyone recommend good routes up that way? MC-friendly campgrounds? Other trip-worthy detours?

Any Buellers going to Sturgis this year?
If so, is there a meeting place or campground where Buellers meet ?
This will be my first year at Sturgis as a Bueller.
Hope to see some of you guys up there!

Never have I got so many responses to my post Chainsaw, Jim sb, Capt., Mars, Cmodtopgun, Roc - thank you sooo much: I'll check out all the suggestions!

Now, for a couple other questions.
1) Who knows if the race ignition module (which came with my complete Buell race kit) for 2001 supports the skip spark/engine temperature function as does the stock module? If no one knows, who would (Customer service)?
2) Any harm in returning to my stock ignition module and running it with the race header/mufler/air?
2)Buell Pro Series spark plugs - yea or nae?
3)Buell Pro Series spark plug wires - yea or nea?
4)If I was to invest in a tork(spell?) wrench to use on my bike, which one should I get? (I've never even held one before - always used intuition [God help me]).

Thanks again.

I've been seeing a lot of V-Rods on show-room floors lately. Does anyone know how the supply/demand balance currently is? Are the outrageous mark-ups starting to come down?

Fogcity,

I asked about the Pro Series plugs the other day. $13 a piece vs. $2.50 for 10R12's. Bet you can't guess which ones I bought. I got the blue plug wires because they matched my bike.

Hi guys and girls. I'm back, with time on my hands. I got tailended while touring BC and had my leg broken requiring surgery and ss screws.

Busa was a total loss. I'm riding crutches now, for the next two/three months. Be around to annoy you.

Fog,
I have 3 different torque wrenches.
I use the 3/8 inch pound version (25-250 in lbs)the most on the Buell. A must for rocker box work.
I have the Sears version. Not the DigiTork or MicroTork version but the next one down with the micrometer type scale. Should be around $60.00. Slighty less on sale. The other two I have are a 3/8" foot pound (10-75) ft lbs, and a 1/2" drive (20-150 ft lbs).
I don't use the last one very much. That one's for the big stuff.

Hope this helps.

Brad

Paul,
Nice to see you back online. Hope you mend quickly. The hardware can be replaced, not so easy with the flesh and blood.
Very glad to hear you were "repairable".
Now you get to set off scanners at the airport!

Paul:

Very sorry to hear about your accident, sadder to hear the species contains idiots capable of rear-ending a motorcycle and pleased that you are in the mending process.

Let me know how house bound you are...with this info you are prime fodder to be volunteered for Bonneville prep duty!

Get well quickly....

Thanks Brad, it was an experience of a lifetime, I was slowing to make a left turn across traffic when a following car full of BC teenagers hit me. I did a somersault off the bike landing on my head, then shoulder, then right leg.

Put a major divot in my arai, dislocated my collar bone, and then broke my leg.

The Ventura rack and gear saved me from going under the car, and the Buell suit, boots, gloves and Arai kept me from getting rashed up, or dead.

Driver of the car wasn't watching ahead, and was cited. ICBC (Insurance Co. of Britt. Col.) has been doing a super job of taking care of me.

Watch your back!

Paul,
Where geographically is the new beast/Busa located? If it's between Milwaukee and Seattle, ping me. I'm heading that direction in a few weeks and have an empty trailer hitch so far (end of August timeframe, meandering route).

Hi Snail, Wish you all the best in your recovery. Sad message, but good to hear that you gave proof of being sturdier than the Busa. Thought so already. And you bought again a Busa ?? What was the lesson then? That slowing down is the most dangerous part of motorcycling? Did they tell you in the hospital that there are those plastic leg (or arm) protectors with a rubber cuff that you can use to keep the leg dry when taking bath or shower? They work very well if they are used with an healthy dose common sense. Surgeons don`t like them because you CAN manage to soak the bandage, plaster or whatever.
All the best.
Hans

How "excessive" did the top quality Arai price feel in the air? In my experience, being separated from the $$ of an Arai seems it's cheapest as I pass the handlebars....could be perception.
