2003 Buell Lightning XB9SL with 8790 miles in great condition. See many pics below. Never raced, never down, and all maintenance performed by Buell certified mechanics. It has been broken in properly and runs on fully synthetic oil. What's been done at its 5K service: new SYN3 lube, new oil filter, new clutch cover gasket, and new spark plugs. It is an "L" which means "low" (seat carved out and forks set lower). About 1.5 inches lower than the "S."

Buell Race Kit for much better performance AND sound. It consists of a dual-exit, Ceramic Muffler, High Flow Air Cleaner, and a recalibrated Race Electronic Control Module. The difference from the stock version is quite significant; more power and quicker response. A unique, street-tracker kind of roar.

Having ridden this bike to the Smoky Mountains from Indianapolis it was relatively comfy on the highway, but its performance in the twisties had me convinced; one of the most fun bikes I've ridden. Its torque was the selling point for me, power throughout low-to-high rpms allowed it to ease in to turns smoothly and power out more efficiently than the revvy, inline fours.

OTHER EXTRAS/FEATURES: I wanted to play up the urban assault appearance like the CityX. So, I added the headlight guard, installed Napoleon bar-end mirrors, applied the frame pucks, replaced stocked signals with small Lockhart Phillips sigs (white lens/amber bulb), and added Pirelli Scorpion SYNC tires (used on CityX and MultiStrada). I have also removed the very large decals on the tank which has helped create intrigue with onlookers at gas stations and parking lots. : )

NOTES: I have kept maintenance records, owner’s manual, and stock parts (mirrors and sigs, not the stock muffler). The pictures represent the bike very well. There are slight rub marks on the airbox cover from a Buell brand tankbag, not scratches but a few areas where you can tell there was minimal friction (might even be able to buff out). This is something that wouldn't bother me but wanted to mention it. Overall, the finish is very glossy and the metal parts are very clean. First owner converted the oil to synthetic after the first Buell-recommended break-in period. I am the second owner. NOTE: The pics show a Dunlop on the front...I have recently put on the Pirelli.

REASON FOR SELLING: A combination of an effort to get out of debt and a need to buy a car. I’ve got to say goodbye to what has been the most versatile and all-around fun bike!

Call Corey at 317-989-4580 with any questions. Feel free to come look at the bike if you are in the Indy area. (You MUST have an MC endorsement to test ride it.) I will be prompt in returning emailed questions (maybe even quicker than by phone), don’t hesitate to shoot ANY question my way.
