Hi,

I am looking for a tuber (S1 or X1) "Nuclear blue" side stand in good condition.

I would pay for shipping to France.

Thank you

Eric

Thanks, I don't know if "Cobalt blue" is the same as "Nuclear blue" but it looks on the photo like it is a much lighter color than what I am looking for.
I never saw an S3 with a nuclear blue frame tough.

I thought the stands were all black or gray, regardless of frame color...

Sales brochure photos and parts catalogs that I could find seem to indicate that the S1W had only one color of sidestand, (but they're not always right).

Based on what I could find, 99 and later S3 models and 2001 and later X1 models had colored frames and sidestands. I know 1999 X1s had black frames but I'm not sure about the 2000 X1.

Mine is gray on my S1W.

My 99 X1 has a nuke blue frame and side stand.
Addict, I'm not aware of buell ever doing a cobalt blue. I know when I photograph my nuke blue X1 it always looks wrong in pics. If you search ebay there are a few other ones on there.

Mcelhaney14, don't remember the 99 X1 having colored frames, but I'm not surprised. The sales brochure "Thumbstart Your Senses" ,states the X1 frame as having a "black finish", while the S3 had the "Build-to-Order" color options.
I'm curious if you have an early or late 1999- would you be willing to share the month of production on your VIN tag?
I'll look for more 1999 brochures/catalogs tonight.

Screamer, I'll have to look but it's one of the carbon fiber extreme editions.

Somewhere I have all the 1999 build sheets and Roadworks , , I don't recall colored side stands but there sure could have been some.

There have, over the years, been some funny stories with sales brochure bikes that showcased significant variances from what, 8 months later, went into production.

Due to the Technical Publications schedule it was often necessary for us to provide "photo bikes" while some details were still in flux.

But everybody always did an awesome job of getting the bikes to Laughlin-Constable and they, in turn, kicked out some killer brochures , , , I still dig the PRAY FOR PAVEMENT that Tina came up with.

Before Buell . . .her career had been primarily focused on Oshkosh ByGosh kids' clothes. She did a killer job on the Buell account.

And . . . the "Take one for a Test Prowl" campaign in Australia was the result of an architect having dinner with a stock broker to decided to change careers and become one of the top HD execs on the Buell account.

Buell did brochures REALLY well . . . . a combination of some grant bikes (few things photograph better than an S1) and some amazing creative talent.

Searched what I could without going in to the attic, and (no surprise) I found a lot of conflicting info regarding frame colors.
I did however, find one reference (1995-2006 Buell Bodywork) of colored frames on 1999 X1 models which mentioned black, nuclear blue, and white (Japan only) but it had no sidestand information.
(Bought a nuclear blue sidestand off e-bay about ten years ago for a Bonneville project)

Addict, heres a pic of how my nuke blue photographs. It matches pretty well with the ebay side stand.

Screamer, my X1 is dated march 99. I'm betting just the carbon edition bikes for the US and Japan had the colored frames.

Mcelhaney,
Thanks for providing the March date. A bike built in the last third of the model year could easily have different options and colors other than what was promoted in earlier ad material.
There was a CF edition floating around here about two years ago - but it had a black frame. I tried taking photos of the nuclear blue sidestand I have but it lost the purple hue in the photo - looked the same as your frame.
