I didn't know that a rattle-can of flat black paint and a hacksaw could double the value of a Blast.

Not to hijack this thread but I been told that I have one of the best looking blast's. I agree that $3000.00 is too much for that one. But it would take quite a bit more for someone to buy mine.

Just out of curiosity, why would you bother? At 500cc's a 250 Ninja will do practically everything yours will but faster... Why dump the money into a Blast instead of buying a Lightning or Firebolt?

Why would you want something that everyone else has? It's not about speed, and I already have a custom lightning.

Matt- I thought the same thing! Neatly done Blast, my a**! All he did was remove the rear plastic...

I actually thought to myself "Now, Matt's Bast is neatly done!" : )

Love that thing...

well, if a black rattle can and a hack saw is all he needed to get 3k for that blast (which he won't) then more power to him. Suffice to say that none of us who get on this site would pay anywhere near what he's asking for what amounts to a cool looking starter bike

Not very many fuel injected Blasts either.

I hammered the livin' crap out of the one I had....and it asked for more...I got rid of it when I got fast enough to find the limits of the chassis.

The motor had character and plenty of power. It shifted like a truck but would cruise all day at 80...and never broke or failed to crank.

You sound like the sportbike guys. "Why would you buy a buell when you can spend the same money on a faster bike" Its not always about being the fastest, its about being different and having something that stands out, has character.

I really hate to use this expression, but it's one of those cases where "If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand." I have a 96 EX500 Streetfighter with WAY more love into it than it's worth, and even with a measly 47 at the wheel, it's easily one of my favorite bikes ever. Forged pistons, full racetech front end, SV650 shock made to fit, custom upright YZ250 bars, fairings removed, EBC rotor, braided lines, Monster 900 Termi's graphted on, etc etc etc. It's my scrappy little ragamuffin, and I wouldn't trade her for Anything out there. Incredible city bike, handles the highway just fine, cheap to own and operate, small, light, parts are cheap and everywhere, and an absolute RIOT to ride. Honestly, part of the reason it's SO much fun is Because it's not that fast or precise, you can just Play with it.

I wanted a Motard that you could actually Live with day-to-day, and that's exactly what I got. I adore my Firebolt, but I adore my little EX just as much for totally different reasons, and i'm much more likely to get into trouble (read: have FUN) on the 47bhp EX than on the 90bhp/70ftlb Firebolt. Its the difference between an F-22 and a P-51.
