For Sale:

1996 Buell S2 Thunderbolt. This bike's origins has a deep history. There is a deep pride that's felt by owning one. Approximately 500 of these bikes total made by Buell in 1996, and approx. 1800 total for the 2 years of this model's production. Included with this bike is the 25 year anniversary biography of the Buell Motorcycle Company where you can learn much more about these bikes. This is NOT your average sport bike.

The bikes power plant is based on a Harley sportster engine wrapped in a hand built sport bike-oriented tube frame. It has many features that are unique to Buell design including an underslung 2-into-1 muffler.

This particular bike has a tasteful amount of aftermarket parts on it. The rear suspension has been upgraded to a Penske remote reservoir coilover shock, the front forks have been rebuilt with racetech springs and valves in them. The engine has a Forcewinder cold air intake mounted to a Mikuni 42mm CV Carburetor custom jetted to the later tube frame generation race exhaust header connected to one of the few rare Drummer mufflers in existence. Drummer currently makes mufflers for Buell's XB and 1125 bikes ONLY. It has a Crane single fire ignition system with aftermarket plugs and wires.

The Michelin Pilot Power tires are barely broken in at less than 1200 miles and under 1 year on them. I've upgraded the rear tire size from the stock oddball size of 170 to a 180/70/17. These tires are arguably one of the best street tires available; and are a far cry from the stock tires that were on the bike. The seat provides tons more comfort thanks to the custom upholstered quality versus the stock saddle. The bike was originally painted 'Parkway Blue', which was more purple in color than blue. Its been repainted to a color scheme more fitting for the bikes unique-ness.

I am the 2nd owner of this bike, however the purchase of my Buell 1125r is forcing me to sell this bike, since i no longer have the time to ride it as much as it deserves. I love this bike, and I'll be selective as to who purchases this bike. It will NOT be sold to anyone intending to modify it into a custom chopper. This bike commands respect of its owner and its next owner will be someone who appreciates this bike for what it represents. They must also understand that this bike IS 13 years old and requires the meticulous maintenance that i have adhered to, to be carried on. This bike is a classic.

The bike will come with a rear stand, a box of miscellaneous spare parts specific to this bike along with its factory service manual, owners manual and online resources for the S2 community and parts resources.

It would be fair to rate this bike at an 8 out of 10. The engine and transmission has 3 times its current mileage worth of life left in it. The chassis, wheels and body has its fair share of nicks and scratches for its age. It wouldn't take much to bring this bike into the 'pristine' category of condition.

I have boatloads information about this bike; more than this ad could do justice to. As such, I'm including my phone number and email address. It will be gladly on display for locals, however test rides are only available to cash-in-hand potential owners who understand that ill be following them on my 1125 for the test ride. For non-locals ill take and send any and all pictures of anything that interests you. I'll happily bring it to anyone within 400 miles for just fuel expense.

Lastly the trailing 4 digits of its VIN is 0001. It is a de-california-ized CA bike.
