. . . . Toe the track. |

To the track? Hmm. maybe that "secret" that has been trying so hard to keep quiet the past few days is a little too big for its box? Ever since that photo leaked a while back I have wanted to seem more. I would love to see that bike on the track. Daytona maybe? Wish I could be there. |

The old saying is TOE (T-O-E) the track . . .
quote:And it was my heart's own perfume When the crape jasmoine bloomed on St. Charles Avenue Though I couldn't hear the bells of the streetcars coming By toeing the track I knew And if I were an old man returning With my satchel and porkpie hat I'd hit every jazz joint on Bourbon And I'd hit every one on Basin after that --- Lyrics - John Doe No. 24 - Mary Chapin Carpenter
Years ago . . before there was a water cooled Buell and a new crop of full of piss and vinegar Buell riders . . . Hobos living in shanty towns adjacent to the tracks learned that by slipping off a shoe and "toeing the track" . . . the could know, long before it got near, of a train coming. But the folks back in those days had keener senses and listened rather than talked. I suspect one of those Hobos could tell folks what's on the way. I never learned a single thing by talking. . . . . trains a comin'. Court |

I like trains...especially if they say Buell in big bold letters on the side. |

Well you just squashed my theory. I was just hoping for a simple spelling error. Either way, I will continue to enjoy watching (and talking every so often, not that my words have ever meant much) while things unfold. |

Stuff is goin' on (Erik always has something goin' on - oh the tales of things that didn't happen that I could tell, might even rival Court) but in typical Buell fashion I would be surprised if it was something that we all had thought of and discussed. The only think I know is that, kinda like the ZTL brake, we will be surprised and amazed. I also might take longer than this internet world is used to. |

I was on another site and they say this photo has been around since last year and it is a Buell with a custom Ducati fairing not a proto type. |

Ducati fairing not a proto type. They would not be correct. All you have to do is look at it, the details are all Buell. |

"...Two top-level executives at Harley-Davidson Inc. — one-time president James McCaslin and top legal officer Gail Lione — have announced their retirements..." ------------------- “I’m certainly not done and, like I said, I still want to do that. I don’t want to have to be not competing in the same market. I still feel like I have tons of energy for this stuff and so we’re leading with racing and if nothing else we’re going to hopefully build a belief that American designs and concepts and American-made stuff is cool. What I do beyond that, time is going to tell.” Erik Buell, Motorcycle-USA interview. ------------------- "...The news, released this morning by Erik Buell Racing, reports a pair of 1190RR superbikes were purchased by a European privateer squad, the Pegasusraceteam.com Team. The two bikes will be campaigned in the European Sound of Thunder Series..." -------------------- "Buell, however, says he understands that Harley had to make the choice it made. "We understood that they needed to focus on their core business in these tough times, and it wasn't us." His new company could be a bridge to something else, or it could remain a small, niche business." Journal Sentinel article on Erik Buell Racing. Daytona isn't far away... |
