Bombshell,

@Corywest13: I won't be in today's superbike race due to an engine failure in qualifying. We will be back for tomorrow's race tho! Thanks for the support

Totally heart breaking for him. Go burn some sage to get the bad ju-ju away. To bad for Cory, looked like he was on his way to a great qualifying run too. Up side to this, he will be super fresh for tomorrow. No partying Cory.

LOL. Just looked at the live timing results after posting that. No spoilers here... but let me repeat,

As I well know since I have had bikes of my own compete at Daytona, but one team losing 6 out of 6 motors makes me wonder.

I would like to think that all of that donated had something to do with Erik giving up a motor. If so score a huge one for badweb!

Wonder what the difference between the EBR teams motors and RSR and if EBR blew any?

The deal says that they are working with EBR on the engine development. Got to push it to get it all out. Good job to all the racers and teams!

RSRacecraft has made arrangements with Erik Buell Racing to purchase last year's EBR 1190RS AMA Pro Racing superbikes. As part of the arrangement, RSRacecraft will be providing engine development services to EBR and cooperating to develop an improved electronics package to include traction control capabilities. All in parallel with the EBR development team.

yeah, im sure that's what it was...
"yeah I don't know Cory, don't know if I want to give you a motor...., wait, some people on BadWeb donated money? Then yeah, take a motor!"
But hey, if it makes you sleep better at night thinking the kindness of Erik was due to you, then go for it

With all due respect, Mr. Owens, a lot of people feel pretty good about helping to fill a gap in sponsorship so that one of our own could get there. Is a pat on the back warranted? Sure it is.

EBR, and Erik have an interest in their products doing well, and at the end of the day, are likely to help if for no other reason than that. However, having met Erik briefly, he seems like a kind person and believes in this American sportbike proposition. That can't hurt either.

So, we can't know what the factors are that resulted in the engine donors. All of those factors may be involved, but it certainly can't hurt that the most supportive community of Buell/EBR supporters helped in the effort. It may not have been a million dollar sponsorship, but people did their best and met a need. I am pleased to be a part of this group.

Hybrid, stop trolling threads and do something useful like the others who actually did due something useful and helped Cory. I'm sorry you have a negative outlook but I guess none of us are perfect. If you want to stir up a bees nest, go do it on another thread instead of soiling this one. I guess keeping a positive attitude is considered a thing of the past to some people.

Looks like Cory made it thru the morning warm ok. He was 9 th fastest, but no one was really pushing since the temperature was only 41 degrees. There was a brief red flag. It appears that Knapp may have crashed.

At 11 am eastern. TV not untill Sunday evening.:-(

Fantastic, keep us up to date!

My guess? If Erik Buell and all the others at EBR knew there was a privateer team on an 1190 with a blown motor before a Daytona race... they would do anything and everything possible to get them in the race short of risking their own race.

To the point that if I lived in Daytona and had an 1125, I would be locking the garage door at night and watching out for elves carrying tools in the wee hours of the morning. ; )

I was at Homecoming one year, and I heard Erik tell a mechanic at a dealership to pull the wheel off his personal bike to replace the wheel on an attendee's bike whose wheel bearings had died.
I believe that Erik and Co. would do whatever they could to help. It's because of that attitude that I'm so loyal to the brand. It's also the same attitude that motivates Badwebbers to to help our own.

To all the BadWebbers that helped me get to Daytona, I have to thank you so much for your contributions. Unfortunately we had a lot of teething problems that showed there face, but Daytona is really hard on big twins. We came out strong but didnt have much luck and we ended with two DNF's. I feel bad that I couldn't bring home some results to make everyone proud, but out of good faith I will continue to sport the badweatherbikers.com stickers on my faceshield this season. You guys are awesome and I want you to know that I couldn't have done it without everyone's help. We'll regroup and come back strong in EBR country for Road America! Hope to see you there : )

I'm very sorry that I did not find this thread earlier.
I was on the receiving end of BADWEB support in 2012 when through Crotchrocket.tv I fielded the first privateer EBR 119RS at Daytona, with Shawn Higbee in the saddle. Unfortunately, we lost a motor in practice as well and at that time EBR did not have a motor to loan us for the race. It was heart breaking. However I can not overstate the incredible spirit and camaraderie of the BADWEB community members who donated funds and showed up on their own dime to help and crew. Then when the same thing happened at Road Atlanta, I thought it was all over. But then EBR was able to provide a motor, we decided to give it one last try at Infineon and the BADWEB gang was right there again. With their help, we finished the race at Infineon, but at that point we knew that we just could not continue without major sponsorship.
I have many mixed feelings this week reliving that incredible time of selfless teamwork, friendship and purpose. Honestly, I feel somewhat adrift without it. I am now racing the bike myself when I can afford to, but I do not do it justice and I have to say that it is just not the same without the team.
I have said it before, but it is worth repeating - Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! It was an extraordinary effort.
Rob

Cory:

It's racing.

I've been doing this with Erik for over 25 years and I could not be prouder of how you represented EBR.

You are a total class act and I join all my friends here, and from around the world, in thanking you for representing us so capably. You are an incredibly talented young man.

Keep your head in it . . . . it's a long season and we're thrilled to have you on the team.

you guys misunderstood - I am not saying a single thing negative about the folks who donated to the tire fund. Its awesome, good to see more Buells/EBRs on the track.
BUT
to think that because some folks gave to a tire fund being THE REASON Erik gave a motor....its really quite silly.

COURTS BACK!!!: )

also, it sucks what happened with the EBRs in todays race and this weekend (for some)
But yesterdays race (Race 1) had May in a good spot for a track that doesn't usually sui the twins as well.
I think it'll be much different during the rest of the season, I am sure there will be a few more podiums this season. Maybe/hopefully at the top of it

Erik is just that guy. He is passionate about racing and the team and anyone racing/riding his bikes, and backs it up. I know from experience.
But do not underestimate the positive influence that Badweb support brings. You rock.

Go EBR!
