Boss called a meeting the other day. Budget cuts are coming in the form of no more overtime or holiday pay.

No extra $$= No racing.

That hurts.

Oh man, I hate to hear that. Our agency is hanging on by the skin of its teeth too. We live with yearly threats of take-overs from people like your boss.... especially now since his budget has also been slashed and the idea of absorbing another agency with funding is very appealing.

Keep your head up and work hard. Where there's a will, there's a way.

As bad as that is, just be glad it wasn't the one I got 2 years ago when I asked the reason for the meeting and the reply was, "Staff reduction." Fortunately, since I was gonna retire at the end of the year anyway, it wasn't a big upset.

Hang in there, though.

I work for a very wealthy township in my area. And we have even been talked too about possible reductions or complete layoff's. These people carry over 10-15 million dollars a year so it's not about the money. It is looking pretty good now but that fear is always in the back of my mind. We have already talked about no raises this year but I am cool with that if I get to keep my job.

All of the talking though has put a serious hurting on track days. But it's better to be safe than sorry.

True, I am still employed and my heart goes out to those that have lost their jobs!

The boss man has said he has cut all he can cut without taking jobs. If he is asked to cut more next year it will be in the form of a reduction in personel.

If that were to happen, I would escape the first round and probably the 2nd. After that...

Come November, the job situation will change for the better. The business world will see the liberals dropping and it will give them hope and change.

Beware the dreaded company picnic - layoffs to follow......

I have had to give that talk more times than I cared to over the last two years. At first, it allowed me to get rid of the dead wood. Now I'm starting to cut meat off the bone, which hurts - good people are hard to replace. Probably get to do it at least one more time. Then it will be time for me to receive the talk.
