Hey - this is WAY cool.

He's TRYING to do the 200 on the Buell. He specifially said it's a BETTER machine for the 200 at Daytona than the R6.

Seriously, knowing that he's still a starving privateer, it'd be WAY cool to contribute a few dollars since that race has to cost a TON of change!!!

I think it would be a great ida if EBR would lend Shawn Higbee a Buell 1125RR to race in the Superbike races at Daytona . I would think putting a 1125RR on the grid at Daytona would be great publicity for EBR ,but I know Shawn Higbee can not afford one , and EBR is a business .

Not sure EBR could afford on either! All the money comes out of Erik's pocket and it will be awhile before he is making a profit.

Would a EBR 1190 be legal for the Daytona Superbike race?

No, the only legal Buell for American Superbike is the 1125RR

Shawn Higbee is listed as racing a Buell 1125R in American Superbike . He finished 25th in last years Daytona Supebike race ,1 lap down on a Buell 1125R ,and his fastest race lap was a 1:44.9 seven seconds slower then the fastest lap of the race a 1:37.9 by Tommy Hayden on a GSX-R1000. Shawn Higbee is a great rider he finshed 5th in last years Daytona 200 on the Buell 1125R ,but a 135hp Buell 1125R does not have a prayer against 200hp Superbikes , A 175hp Buell 1125RR would even have a hardtime finshing in the top 15 in the Superbike races ,and only the top 15 in either Superbike race get any purse money .

I can't wait myself...I'm sure you have something specific in mind, but I'm just glad racing is again about to start up.

If this year's competition is close to what we saw last year, I will be pleased. Let's just hope the television coverage gets a little better, and that some of last year's bugs get worked out.

Would love to see Shawn get his hands on a 1125RR for Superbike, but am just happy to see him running Buell for Daytona.

I know he's running the IL4 for DSB this year, but is there any concrete info on whether Shawn plans to also run in Superbike
?

Puzzled - You mean Daytona Sportbike and American Superbike? (not American Sportbike). He may just run the same bike in both.

He is supposedly going to announce what his rides WILL BE for the season - very shortly.

Yeah that is it.

From what I have read on his web site Shawn is going to run the Buell in Daytona. His web site states he'll be on an R-6 elsewhere (that sucks).

Wow, this is a heck of a development for Superbike.

http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?artic le=39464

At Willow Springs, Shawn on the 1125R could walk away from Eric Nolan and his 1098R. So is this a better offer than using the Buell, or just a different and supported offer.

Shawn today said that the Duck is the Superbike ride, the 1125R will be the Daytona Sportbike ride at Daytona. According to him, the 1125R is better suited to the long 200 mile at Daytona than the R6.

He said that if Road America race was happening during Homecoming, he'd enter the 1125R just for old times sake - but the RA race is 2 weeks prior to Homecoming.

Out at the Streets of Willow yesterday, Shawn had the Bartels bike on display. This WILL be the 200-miler. Yes, he will be running the Moto-Forza Ducati in Superbike but the 1125R is his preferred machine for the long race.

Going to be great racing - and it's a shame that we can't go to watch or help!

PLEASE stop by Shawn's pits. If he's not in the middle of working on the machine, INTRODUCE YOURSELF. If you haven't yet met him, he's a very approachable guy.

(now it's back to fundraising... he leaves mid-week to drive back to Daytona)

Great e-mail from Shawn this morning, sent to everyone that has been donating recently. You can really tell from the content of the e-mail that he genuinely will miss the Buell this season.

Shawn's a top notch guy in terms of character (and of course on-track ability), and I wish I had the means to do more than the small donation I sent him.

Here's to the hopes that he and Buell find themselves again not too far in the future...

It was a fabulous e- mail and I was thrilled there were so many contributors as to warrant a blanket e- mail.

Shawn's a fine person and a talented rider who is exciting to watch regardless of brand.

The was a lot dangled before last years Buell racers this year. I, for one, am going to enjoy eTching them confident that most will be "home" once the carrot is retracted.

It's a win- win for Buell, racers and fans.

Can't wait to see Shawn at Daytona.

Just got a text from Mitsu... he MIGHT fly to Daytona. Unconfirmed...

...but if Mitsu IS at Daytona - you guys ALL ought to say HI and shake the hand of one of the most intelligent guys ever to turn a wrench on a racing motorcycle.

He'll be in Shawn's pits (again, if he makes it)

Seems from Shawn's tweets that he is definitely driving. Text at 5PM Eastern that said he had 890 miles to go. Another at 8PM indicated that he had taken a much needed break from the road.
