Congratulations Buell...What a season. My concern is Danny Eslick.Danny has shown the country and the world what kind of racer he is.My hope is that he will continue to tear up American race courses on a Buell,or will some bikemaker with deeper pockets try to snatch up that talent that we are just getting to know.

That is a very real possibility. Danny could be back on an I4 next year.

Backcountryme, your right, money does talk but after this last year with Danny not having any ride until 3 weeks before the season and RMR, Richie signed him and gave him a quality ride, I would like to think that Danny would give Richie and RMR the first chance to sign him and let him go a defend his championship.

I guess time will tell. I certainly hope to see Danny riding a Buell next year!

That is true. Danny is a good kid. But I don't think that RMR and Buell have the money that say Jordan or Graves have. I wouldn't blame him if he signed for more money. Being a pro racer is hard on the body. You have to cash in when you can. But man would I like to see him on the Buell. I got to go to the factory on Monday. Those people have heart man. Great people working on great bikes. It was nice seeing them doing everything by hand. No robots, just people.

With the current state of the AMA, it's likely to be a "buyers market" for teams looking for riders.

It looks like Jake Zemke, Roger Hayden, Jake Holden, Jamie Hacking and Chris Peris will all be looking for rides, just to name the most obvious ones.

It would be nice if teams were planning on throwing money at riders and I wish the best for Danny, but I think we would be ignoring the realities of the series to assume he'll be getting lucrative offers.

There are some teams with more resources than RMR, but most of those teams have very talented riders already.

Do we know for sure that dannys contract was only a 1 year deal? Unless a superbike team steps up, I can't see how a move within dsb could be considered anything better than a lateral move. This bike just seems to fit his style. The team has usable data for all the tracks now, so even the tracks that didn't go as well this year have a much stronger starting point set up wise over last season.

Also, I thought I read that the geico deal was a three year deal with rmr. Having the sponsor locked in, and maybe get them to pony up a little more $$$ for a rmr/ geico 1125rr superbike campeign has a nice ring to it also.

Guess we'll have to wait and see

I don't know if he would go anywhere in DSB. I myself am interested in Eric Buell racing and the Knapp/West team in Superbike(is there one?). That is where the kudo's are in AMA for Buell cause after that we can all talk about WSB. But I'm thinking too far ahead.

I think I would be more concerned that Taylor Knapp would sign with Suzuki. That's where he came from. And, I'm sure I saw something about Slick signing another K with RMR.

Danny's 2009 deal was a one year deal. Almost a race to race deal. Don't forget that Danny came from Suzuki as well.

It is a moot issue now...and just when it was starting to really get good. My excitement for AMA motorcycle racing has just dropped about 95%. What a ride...kinda manic depressive...soaring highs and then dropping liked a rock off the cliff.

I don't know why RMR would not use the Buells. they won with a Buell and HD will still make parts for it.
I will support any Buell riders, its not over. Erick still with HD so I would not be surprised after the rescesion is over HD takes care of buellers.
If they don't I will buy Ducatis only.

On RMR's website Wednesday Oct. 14th, they posted that they signed Danny to another year of DSB and could also see action in Superbike.

Nothing posted since the news about Buell

Call me crazy but I dont think any Buells can race in the AMA next year unless they change the rules.

IIRC the manufacturer must apply to the AMA and have a certain amount of bikes for sale nationwide at any given time to be accepted.

Since we dont have a "manufacturer" anymore I think that means we are outta luck.

Anyone else have any better insight?

Likely will be allowed for a while as you are riding a 2009 bike and those would be legal.

Wouldn't be the first time DMG "reinterpreted" the rules in Buell's favor. Besides, they've produced 2010 bikes, and they're in the dealerships so I don't see the issue?

No Product, no contingency, no incentive to race.....machines shall be popular in AHRMA as Pat Mooney has shown with his recently acquired unit.

"No Product, no contingency, no incentive to race....."

Jon(Slojon), I can see by your profile you are NOT slow by any means, but I politely disagree with that statement but just for one reason.

That is: With the success Buell has already had both in DSB and Superbike we need to keep racing for the time Buell re-emerge greater then ever. IT WILL HAPPEN! I do not think Erik is through yet and what we do now will help after the re-introduction with even better bikes.

Riding yesterday(Sunday) most people I met on bikes either said I had just lost much in value of my 1125R or "what will you do now" I merely said "I'll just keep riding mine and enjoying it more then anything I have ever had" That shut them up. They could not argue with that philosophy.

I think all of us with Buells should continue to praise Buell, ride and race, and help Erik come back stronger then ever. Bob

Bob, I think that you may have misinterpreted Slojon's statement, judging from your reason to "disagree" with him. Your disagreement does not seem to be addressing the "facts" that Slojon was stating.

The fact is that for now and in the foreseeable future, there will be no more Buells (product). Do we all hope that that will change in the very near future? Sure we do. But without a product, it is going to be very hard to draw sponsors to a non-existing product...Geico and Dairyland included. It may still happen and that would make me happy, but it does not seem to make any business sense to me.

The fact is that for now and in the foreseeable future, there will be no contingency money offered to those racing as incentive to race...ask Shawn Higbee how important that these incentives are to his racing team. Plus, there will be no factory research and design of go fast parts, and Henry will not be there to make them available. I suspect Henry Duga will retire...I will miss him.

The fact is that these things combined severely impede the incentives to race at the AMA level. There may be some diehards who will continue just for the love of racing a Buell, and I will be happy with that, but I cannot imagine the big boys coming back next year. The folks at SPEED seemed to agree with me according to a report last night.

But I could be wrong, and I will be happy with that.

I was at Speedway for Races over weekend. Plenty of BUELLS'. Got to say "Hi" to Henry & Shawn. Talked to Richie for a minute- bout ALL my involvement with BUELL this weekend besides riding my 1125R. BUT, everybody I talked to both inside and outside Racing sphere was confused yet supportive. I am not confused. I am supportive. I kept repeating that BUELL is out for the short term and will be back. Once Economy revives the BUELL shall return with ALL watercooled units. Read other posts of H-D bashing and can understand some of the animosity. I purchased a SPORTSTER 20yrs. ago and still have it. I shall continue my relationship with ALL my Dealers and hope to continue riding every one of my machines for many more years.

Jimidan and Slojon, thanks much guys; I agree with both of you completely and really enjoy what you have said. Both posts make a lot of sense. The probability of no contingency money will certainly put a real damper on those who are professional Buell racers like Danny, Shawn and many others.

Jon, did you get a feeling Richie will continue to race their Buells in AMA next year? I sure hope so as that will somewhat keep Buell enthusiasts interested for a little while anyways. It might just be dead though for pros if AMA does not recognize BMC bikes as "production models"

Thanks again guys. Bob

I would not be surprised if after the 2nd quarter of next year Buell is Back.
The economy is getting back and as long as Buellers keep buying parts and accessories its should be a little incentive for HD to realize there is money to be made.
Also if the 1125RR makes news in the AMA superbike, its going to force HD in the hotseat if they don't do anyhting about to bring the brand back.
The stock market is gettign strong and the the dollar devaluiating which should be good news for cheaper labor for HD and great bargains for the Europeans.
