Wow, so no need to run the series next year? Yamaha is a cinch to win it again? Geez Matt.

I don't think you'll find much argument about it anywhere else Blake. Who is going to stop them?

Honda could ALWAYS have the same breakthrough that Yamaha did this year and the little Spanish munchkin could be challenging again for the crown. You never know...

Maybe working with Nicky, Ducati will actually produce a bike someone BESIDES Casey can ride. Stranger things have happened.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the way that Ducati work, judging by their history so far. It appears that they build a bike, and then the rider has to learn to ride it. Occasionally they get lucky and they get a bike and rider that 'clicks' straight away and they get success, but usually the riders views are pretty much ignored by the factory engineers in much the same way they are at Honda. It is one of the reasons that Rossi gave for not wanting to go to Ducati.

I think that the improvement will have to come from Hayden rather than wait for Ducati to accomodate his wishes.

Will Honda make a big jump to catch Yamaha this winter? Thye might, but I doubt it. Yamaha has the two fastest riders in the world right now, and probably the best two riders to develop the fastest bike in Rossi and Lorenzo. They also have the best race engineers and that combination will take some beating.

Yamaha will have to make mistakes in the 2010 bike for the others to catch up next year I think.

Ben Spies on a factory Honda or Ducati, but alas they've changed the rules, no more factory teams for rookie superstars. Stupid rule.

Suzuki has an exception since they don't have any satellite teams.

There is nothing stopping any factory hiring a rider and supplying him with factory spec equipment inside a private team, as is the case with Marco Simoncelli next year. He will get exactly the same equipment as Pedrosa & Dovi and is paid directly by HRC. If Honda or Ducati want Spies then they can offer a similar deal to him to run in Pramac or LCR colours.

Personally I think that maybe he isn't as hot a property for MotoGP as the media have made out, despite his success in WSB, as nobody except Yamaha have made any space for him or made him an offer so far for 2010.

One thing is for sure, Spies will not be riding a Ducati in MotoGP next year, even if they can meet his wage demands : )

If Yamaha get Spies , then they are the new motoGP empire. Just like Honda used to be. HRC is in deep sleep at the moment. Shoihiro died and everything collapsed.....

Ducati's only hope to make a good bike is to get Edwards at the factory team and start listening to him. Edwards is by far the absolute-best development rider in GP-WSBK. That is why he is paid by the factory Yamaha at the moment and is absolutely adored by the Yamaha team for his hard work. He took all the s@##@ to get the M1 at this level. I respect Hayden but he is not even close to Edwards in development skills.

I think Spies style is the closest to Stoner's. They both keep the throttle wide open while the bike keeps 'dancing' under them. They are both very aggressive on the bike and they both speak English. Ducati should consider him as their last hope........

I think that the "I love Rossi" fans-systems do not want any fast rider on any other bike other than the M1. They tried to scare Lorenzo away from Ducati, so he should signed for Yamaha. Now they try to scare Spies away from Ducati, so that he signs for tech3. Why ??? Because by having the fastest riders on the Yamaha team, then Rossi will be always be given the best bike, so that he does what everybody wants to see..... Rossi to win on any Sunday, while he humiliates his opponents by playing "cat-mouse", using his superior M1.

This is not ignorance, this is the truth that hurts.......
I hope that either HRC or Ducati wakes up and they signs riders that can develop and riders that can win on their teams.

I'm sure Rossi fans would rather see Spies and Lorenzo on Ducati/Honda/Suzuki than another Yamaha, simply because the Yamaha is the best bike. Having said that, Rossi has raised his game again this year because he has a competitive team mate, so who's to say he would be frightened of Spies or Lorenzo on any bike?

Nobody in their right mind (and with any other choice open to them) would sign for Ducati right now. Lorenzo and SPies both know what a poison chalice the Ducati is at the moment and both know that their career will suffer if they sign to ride it.

I hope that either HRC or Ducati wakes up and they signs riders that can develop and riders that can win on their teams.

They already have riders that can win, and in any other era there wouldn't be a problem for Pedrosa or Stoner to clean up in MotoGP. The one thing stopping them is Valentino Rossi, not their current bikes.

You can dislike Rossi all you like, but has shown he can win on whatever bike he is given. I would bet he could podium on the Hayate if he had to.

If Stoner can win and be in the hunt on the might Duc, then why not Spies? It is a gamble for sure, but if Mr. Spies is hungry enough to get to MotoGP, and confident enough to think he can ride the Duc, then surely he'd go for it and Ducati would pay him.

Where's the MV Augusta entry?

Blake,

The Kawasaki factory pulled out of MotoGP this year. Marco Melandri is riding a de-badged Kawasaki with the Hayate name.

Rossi no doubt is the cream of the crop over there, but to add to it is Jeremy Burgess, that guy is really good, cut his teeth with Erv Kanamoto, can't think of a better place to learn.

Lorenzo already signed with Yamaha, one year deal. Spies is something special in WSBK this year, but didn't set the world on fire ( although I thought his performances were very good considering the limited seat time he had) in his MotoGP rides. I think Suzuki would be daft not to try and sign him. It would be a real improvement over Chris Vermulen, but it is all speculation, the silly season as they call it. I hope Nicky can get a handle on that bike, I am pulling for him, and I think Alvaro Bautista as well as Simonocelli will do well in the GP level, but I don't see anyone dethroning the king except Lorenzo. He seems to be the only giant killer out there.....

He didn't set the world on fire because:
1) The Suzuki is nowhere near as competitive as the other bikes on the grid
2) Limited seat time

But he STILL outperformed Suzuki's factory regulars when he did ride! That's the only yardstick that matters.

I agree the Suzuki is not as competitive as it should be, but isn't the mark of a great rider, like say...Valentino, is to take a bike that is less than competitive and through their skill and ability to set up the bike make it competitive? I agree he outrode his other riders, but I think Valentino is so great because he can ride around problems, then give the right feedback to Jeremy to improve the bike. Jeremy in turn gives phenomenal engineering input that improves the bike...it is a team thing for sure, but Valentino is the reason that Yamaha is where it is, and Jeremy is a big part of the equation as to how Valentino is where he is. I just don't see anyone really able to year in year out win consistently against the two of them. Jorge is the best talent in MotoGP right now other than the GOAT, but there is some excellent talent coming up and some developing.

Pedrosa just doesn't seem to be able to turn the corner and progress, he is tough though, he rode the beginning of this season really banged up. I don't think Dovi is the answer to that kind of talent, I think it is going to come from some where else....if Honda were really interested in winning again, sign Spies, put him with the LCR team and let him develop for a year then move him to Dovi's spot. I think he is a talent, but his size may hurt him on the smaller bikes.

If he were smart he would stay in WSBK for another year or two, win a title or two and then move to GP.

Just an opinion of course....

Terri and I will be heading out in about an hour. The bikes are packed, the oil's been changed and I'm having my morning coffee. We've got great seats for the Mile, and we'll be sitting in the Southwest Vista for the GP. (Having never been to the Speedway, I don't know how good they are).
This is going to be fun!

"Yes, of course. Lin Jarvis is the first person I have to thank for this, but also (Masao) Furusawa, because before Brno, they promised me that my bike will be the same as Valentino's in the second half of the season and next year. This is something to take into account, and it was a very important point in making this decision."

This does not say that he didn't get the same parts as Rossi for the first part of his contract up till this point of course, only that he will continue to get the same as Rossi for the remainder of his contract. You can read this both ways, but I certainly don't think he has suffered so far by lack of development or equipment compared to Rossi. If you are in teh opposiing view then you may think that Rossi has enjoyed better kit so far, but lap times don't reflect this at all.

I will be interested to see if Lorenzo can continue to take the fight to Rossi or if the mental damage is already done : )

Still interesting, but most likely a ploy for cash.

quote:

Elías for his part mentioned his intention to remain in MotoGP next season as he continues to search for a new team, though it was his compatriot and fellow Honda rider Pedrosa who caused a stir when he explained that he remains in discussions with HRC to stay in the Repsol Honda team but admitted to also having had discussions with Ducati.

Quick questions for all of you, I don't watch Moto GP enough to know the technical differences. Between a WSBK and a Moto GP bike which is faster?, better handling?, and more advanced? I stopped watching Grand Prix bikes when they went to four strokes and have been out of the loop. I miss the scream of the two strokes. Also is there a big difference between AMA Superbikes and WSBK's?
