Ok, I can't find my BAS. The dealer was supposed to do the recall fix along with my sidestand. They said they did it. That was in May. Recently I have been tipping it over in the dirt trying to master sand. The bike does not quit right away after laying it down. I then got curious and looked for the relocated BAS. No luck. I called the dealer and had them run the VIN. Records indicated that it has 2 outstanding issues...BAS and sidestand. Great! My dealer is 300 miles away. So, If they didn't move the BAS where is it? I looked in the manual and the photo shows where it should be. I can't see mine. I am suspicious that the tech removed it. What do you think? http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/andrejs2112/ tail8.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/andrejs2112/ tail7.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/andrejs2112/ tail6.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/andrejs2112/ tail5.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/andrejs2112/ tail4.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/andrejs2112/ tail3.jpg http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/andrejs2112/ tail1.jpg |

Third photo. The part that says "UP" right under the gray plug on your ECM. |

I love it! They sell me a new bike and don't check for recalls, and then they don't do it again at the 1000 mile service, even after I asked them to do it and it's written on the work order. It's only 600 miles and a day off work...OK, I'm done. Just had to vent. |

I wont do the recall. I did however, like a few others, install a heat shield under the bas. It was one of Odies blankets, cut to tuck under the bas/ecm. No problems since. |

Was heat the problem with the BAS location? |

IIRC somebody here posted that they thought that heat was the problem with the original BAS location. Seems like they added some heat blanket material to protect theirs in the original location and hadn't had any problems. |

Then again, my BAS was in the original location without any heat blankets for almost 28,000 miles before I had the recall done, and it never gave me any problems. It hasn't given me any problems since the recall, either. I'm not sure if heat was the issue, or vibration was the issue that caused the recall. I've heard both from different sources; none of which were "Official" or even close to it. |

My 07 didn't get the recall done before I picked up the bike. It was this form that got me to check. I now have to check about the side stand issue. Joe |

To save you searching, the bolts holding the s/stand on were prone to shearing. It is/was a recall issue,I guess you'd better check your paperwork/dealer to make sure it'e been done if it's relavent to your Uly (not sure if it affects each years model or what). |
