Ok so I was out riding with some guys the other day and my speedo started doing something very funny. We were going about 65-75 and my speed was reading at 25 then 45 then 65 then back to 35 and so on. At the same time that the speedo was acting funny it also seemed that i was loosing power almost like the motor was stumbling? I figure this is some type of a bad electrical connection maybe a bad ground, but i have no idea of where to start looking. I did do a search of Badweb and did not find much as to what the problem could be anyone have any ideas on where i should start looking? |

any ideas on where i should start looking? I'd recommend starting at the battery. I've seen loose terminal connections do some funny stuff. |

+1. Battery cables need regular checking on these bikes, it seems. |

Check the 15 Amp ignition fuse and make sure it is making good contact in the fuse box. It is an easy check. Pop the seat and it is right next to the battery. Checking grounds and battery terminals is a good idea as well. |

Ok i checked the battery cables which were good and tight. Checked the fuses and i cleaned some of the connectors under the seat and behind the instrument cluster and put some dielectric grease in the connectors to prevent any moisture problems... We shall see i am taking it for a ride monday night.. |

Update 60 mi later... It worked! I don't know which connector was giving me problems but it was fixed when i went through the connectors and put the dielectric grease in the every one that i opened. +10 For conductive grease! |
