2006 Uly, stock ECM, Drummer can Some time back I remember somebody posted that he had applied never-seize to the junction of the headers and the can to make a good seal and it eliminated a lot of the popping on decel. I couldn't find the name brand but found a similar product. It says it is good up to 1600 degrees F. Before I tackle this, has anybody else tried this? Also, just curious and how it works - I'm guessing maybe somehow the heat cooks the stuff and makes it's own gasket? Appreciate any input. Thanks |

Neverseez (http://www.neverseezproducts.com/) is an excellent anti-seize compound; OTOH I can't imagine using it to "seal" an exhaust joint. It is basically grease with powdered metal in it. It would be a great thing to use on any nuts or bolts on the exhaust system. I'm 99.97% sure that the shop manual states to use high temperature (red) RTV silicone on this joint. You can get this at any auto parts store and it is specifically made for sealing high temperature joints like exhaust systems. Apply a thin coat to the pipe before you shove the muffler over it and then wipe off the excess. |

Not sure if the RTV will make a difference with the decel popping. This situation seems to be a symptom of a lean condition. I had the same thing happening to me with the Drummer and stock ecm, and then I replaced the stock ecm with the race ecm and 95% of the decel popping went away. |

I have both the race ECM and gobs of RTV and still have some popping on decel. It ain't lean and it ain't leakin'. |

Drummer and American Sport Bike Direct Link MAP here. I never experience the decel pop. |

i tend to agree with Maximum. if i had a leak at the pipe joint, wouldn't there be some soot deposited there? mine looks clean as a whistle. one thing i noticed on my recent trip; the popping was very bad descending down from higher elevations (mixture getting leaner and leaner until the ECM could adjust). after a few minutes at a constant elevation, the popping decreased. just a theory. |

i have the 06, stock ECM, drummer,K&N. i only get popping when the engine is cold. and only a little to almost none when warm. I dont mind much. with fuel injection its always lean when decelerating. nature of the beast? |

I have the same setup as FB and I get popping too. While riding with my buddy who has a 2001 Harley with Vance Hines pipes he pops even more. I think it may be the nature of the beast due to decreased back pressure. My bike runs great. |
