I just picked up my ULY today and finally got to take a quick spin after 7 hours on the road. I am coming off an 04 MTS1000 that I am more than happy to be rid off. I will say that I love the ULY motor already. Will hold judgment on everything else until I get some more seat time. I have been riding on\offroad for going on 30 years. I also ride an 06 FXST. I will probably be asking for some advice on the better mods so forgive me if I ask things that have already been asked. Heres the best part.....shes an 06 with 2300 miles on here and got her for $7600. $8000 out the door with taxes and everything. I feel like a lucky man. |

Hooliken, You are a lucky man. Welcome to Bad Web. I just got my Uly four weeks ago. Glad I did. |

Congrats, and I agree with US Uly, you are indeed a lucky man. I'm eager to hear your impressions of the Uly as you get to know it and as a well-experienced motorcyclist. |

Ahh the MTS1000, the bike I wanted hardcore before getting the Uly. I still wish I could have ridden one but without a dealer near and the price being (at the time) what I thought was out of my reach, and the whole valve servicing nightmare of the ducs. I guess I am glad I ended up with the uly. Such a simple... everything! that I can work on it myself, including the fact that it is a complete blast to ride, though i'm sure the MTS1000 is just around as much fun! |

Congrats and welcome to Badweb. Abandon all hope now, the Buellers disease has you firmly in it's jaws. |

"and the whole valve servicing nightmare of the ducs" You said a mouthful there brother!! That is the one thing that really chapped my ass. I will save that story for a rainy day. The ULY was the bike I originally wanted to replace my 04 R1 with but at the time you could not touch them for under 10k. Now that you are able to find a "few" good used examples the price is somewhat more flexible. So what do you knowledgeable sages recommend for an after market exhaust? The drummer looks very interesting. |

The top performing exhaust is the full Micron system. The Buell race kit works good(that is what I am running) but is no longer available. I have no experience with the Drummer but others here say very good things about it. I have met the guy who builds them at the races in Nashville last year. Seems to be a good guy to do business with and the pipes look good. |

Like Chris, there are quite a few of us in Tennessee running Buell race exhausts. Two things made this the choice for me. The first was when I actually heard a Buell pipe when Fat Bastard visited our area. It has a very low, sweet tone...the pipe that is, not FB . The second reason was that I wanted to keep my stock pipe. I was able to find a Buell pipe on Ebay for less than the comparable Drummer. If you can't find a Buell I think the Drummer is the way to go. A good race pipe, the race ECM and the 07 air box transformed my 06 Uly. It runs better all around and just sounds like I think it should have in the first place. Do it! |

Oh, and welcome to the family Hooliken! You are in for great summer. Did you get one of the faster orange bikes or was the great deal because it was a slower black model? |

Being a "seasoned" rider I opted for the stealthy black. Anyone here running just an after market filter and the Race ECM? |

The problem with just running the race ECM is it will not operate the exhaust valve. Which will plug your exhaust up in higher RPM's. You will need to wire it in the open position. |

"Being a "seasoned" rider I opted for the stealthy black." Maybe Buell should adopt the following color schemes: Stealth Black - Using the same paint technology as the US Stealth bombers, the stealth black Uly avoids radar detection with its advanced color profile....(and slightly lower speed.) In Your Face Orange - For riders who need to scream "look what I ride", In Your Face Orange offers maximum visibility at slightly faster speed limits. |
