Ishai,

You might have better luck posting in the DC-VA-MD storm front section for dealer specific info. Any day I see a BMW rider convert from a GS to a Uly I'm excited. Welcome to Club red-headed step-child.

Thanks for the warm welcome- I posted here as I am interested especially in Uly owners' opinions and also to find if there are any in the nearby area.

I used to live in the Laurel, MD area and would ride out your way a lot. The Frederick guys took great care of me on several occasions when my M2 left me high and dry.

Only was at Frederick on a couple of occasions ( BattleTrax related) and if work was needed it was handled as quickly as possible. They had a real strong BRAG chapter and were super supportive of the Buell brand.

I've had limited (in frequency) but good experience with Frederick. I began taking it there after unacceptable experiences or loooong waits for "appointments" from Battley/Rockville, Ft Washington, and Annapolis

Midnightrider-Could you tell me more about Annapolis please. I was useing Seaford De. and was unhappy with them (mostly the service mngr. and also how poorly my bike ran after they did the 1,000 mi. service) and have switched to Annapolis, but I have not used them for service yet. They (annapolis) did give me the rear lic. plate fixture on the condition that I return the one that had self destructed. I thought that was decent of them.

I had a leaking clutch cable on my Uly a few months after I bought it. Not a big deal, just "wet" at the point where the cable goes into the metal fitting that goes into the housing. It was also nearly time for a routine service check ( I don't remember which interval). I called for an appointment and it would have taken nearly 3 weeks to get it into the shop. I live in Bethesda and it would be really inconvenient to drop it off, go home, and return later that day to pick it up. I told them I would prefer to wait for it. Then I was told they couldn't guarantee what time of day the bike would be started so they couldn't guarantee when it would be done. I then asked when I could make an appointment for a specific start time. The answer, essentially, was never. Not great service, but par for the course I've since found out. (Ask me about Battley and appointments some time). Then I asked about the cost. They said it was $ XX dollars (again, I don't remember the exact number). I told them that seemed awfully high, and just exactly what did they do for that price. The female there then gave me a list of all the things they would check. I told her I had the service manual open in front of me (I really did) and a few of the things they mentioned they would check/service were not considered scheduled maintenance until the next mileage interval. When I pressed for an explanation, I literally got a minute of silence. Then the explanation I got was that they checked those items at every scheduled maintenance. Again, not in accordance with the service manual. At that point I thanked her for her time and hung up. My conclusion was that she either didn't know what she was doing or that the service department was in the habit of doing unnecessary work to drive up the bill. Neither was OK by me. To top that off, shortly after that they had a "Swap Meet" - pay them $20 and you could bring in your bike and sell it right off their lot. It was well advertized and I thought it would be a great way to sell the 99 X1 I still had. I took it to the sale and one of the young mechanics saw me wheel it in and essentially bought it before the sale even started. He asked if I minded if the service manager test rode it. No problem. He rode it and gave it his endorsement. The kid had to get his Dad to bring the money which took a long time. All told this took about 3 hours. Meanwhile, none of the 20-30 Harleys that were there even got an offer. When Dad showed up with the money, I thanked him and got ready to leave. Then the service manager said , in a disgusted tone, something to the effect that of all the bikes that were there only one had sold and that was an "effing Buell". Needless to say I never went back there.

Thanks Midnightrider. I am going to go to them to get the BAS recall done. I just do no trust Seaford Hardley. That is the other one that is closest to me. I live on the eastern shore. I have tried to develop a relationship o fsorts with the service manager at Annapolis but I do not know if that will help.
