Last fall I noticed an oil leak somewhere around the front of the case, near where the oil pressure sensor, oil filter, etc. reside.

After a few hundred miles there is a haze of oil all around that area, with some down on the muffler and chin fairing (right side). The amount of oil lost is very small.

Back then I thought it was oil filter O-ring, but it's not. I recently chaged oil and was meticulous about all sealing surfaces.

Oil leaks are not rocket science, but are there any known "weak points" of the oil lines/fittings in that area?

Dr. Greg,

I just took a quick look at my bike and judging by where the gobs of dirts are stuck I have a slow leak in the same area as you and also around the clutch cable where it exits the primary. Both are enough to make a film of oil that dirt sticks to, but not enough to drip or get on the muffler or chin fairing. I also don't have anywhere near the mileage you do. As a matter of fact, you put more miles on since the last time we saw each other than I have on my bike total. I'll see Murrae tomorrow and ask him to check out his bike for the same leaks. Is your clutch cable leaking at the primary any?

The clutch cable leak at the primary can be fixed easily enough. A good swipe with some brake cleaner on a rag to get it oil-free, tightly wrap a couple turns of electrical tape, then a couple turns more of waterproof electrical tape (the rubber self-stick kind). Leak-free on my bike for several thousand miles!

I was thinking that I was the only one with the oil leak around the clutch cable, and was blaming it on the fact that my clutch had been replaced at 2800 miles. I will give the clean and tape method a shot.
Thanks guys.

No, it's not the clutch cable. Mine is on the right side; the left side is completely clean.

Yep, what Dano said. You can also use Tinactin or any other aerosol foot powder.

My tuber leaks in that area because the bolt holding the pushrod cover down is stripped.
