I am going to be intalling the Race ECM on my Uly sometime next week, hopefully. As you all know, this will require a TPS reset. I want to be able to do this myself - not having to rely on the dealer is always good in my book. But the Diagnostic software and cabling is 200 bones, plus the USB to RS232 adapter is another 40 bones. Here is the question: Does anybody know how much a typical dealer is going to charge to reset the TPS on my Uly? I want to weight the two options monetarily, as 240 is hard to swallow if I don't use the tool that much.

Also, on another note... I have heard of other members completing the scheduled services on their own. Does this affect the warranty? Or is the warranty unaffected by services, or lack there-of?

I was quoted $80 and a 2 week wait.

Lucky for me, a buddy has the VDSTS software and cable and did it for me.

If you're near Torrance,CA. I can borrow the SW and do it for you for FREE.

There are others on the board that will reset your bike's TPS for you too. Just need to locate and ask...

I have a laptop, and I bought the cable and software for two bills. I did not need the adaptor, as everything came ready and assembled from Daves. I have done 3 resets in the last three days for different reasons. I like being able to see the TPS degrees, accurate tach, engine temps, and front and rear timing at different temps. If your gonna keep the bike, get the software and cable, it is worth it.

We charge 35.00 for a TPS reset and can usually do it while you wait.

I would have paid the dealer reset mine, if they gave me that offer. Guess that's the difference between CA & WI.

Dave what kind of muffler is on the bike photo in your profile?

Sheldon's did mine for free while I waited after I replaced my throttle body.
They even did this at closing!

I just ordered the VDSTS from American Sportbike. There is just nothing like being able to work on your bike in the privacy of your own garage.

Thanks for the offer Larryboy. Good to know there are fellow Buellers willing to help out...

I guess this puts me on the list of TPS reset volunteers in the Sonoma County area.
