Hey Adrian8, are those Michelin Pilot Roads on your Uly? If so, how do they do in the dirt? Just put a set on mine yesterday and like em a lot, but haven't been off road yet. Thanks for the pics, Tim |

The pilot roads did as well as the bike can do..plus they get the best mileage of any tire I have had..2,500 on the 616's, 4,000 on the Pirelli Scorpian Syncs. I have 5,200 on the Pilot Roads which are just past the wear bars now. We brutalized the tires out west..the roads are smooth but are coarse like exposed aggregate concrete. We rode in extreme heat for several days and at times over 100mph and smoked the twisty roads. I was pleased with them..In fact a new set is going on next tues. |

You guys were moving over 100 loaded up like that? My other question, and a concern of mine since my Uly is now three weeks old and I bought it instead of another BMW for exactly the type of riding you've presented to us here, is how is your sidestand holding up? You've got a lot of gear stowed in those pix! I can deal with the various quirks I've been reading about the last couple of weeks but I'm a centerstand guy and if my new dreambike will suddenly collapse on its only means of self-support I'm getting nervous... Thanks for posting pix of a great tour! Dean |

actually maybe over 100 some...handled fine..I have not had any kickstand problems...I try and turn the handlebars to the right and not park on a left sloping hill..old dirt bike stuff you learn..after you bend you kick stand or the bike sinks in and falls over. Maybe there was a bad run of bolts.. |

Was wondering why you're hauling so much gear, even two up for a months travel, with rock climbing and basic camping gear we have less than that! We tried to go as light as possible..one side case case held the sleeping bag a pair of sneekers and a tool bag, the other side case had clothing, the top case had maps, electric controls(clothing)camera stuff, duct tape, loaf of bread(for PBJ)and a rope and behind the seat was the bag with the tent and bed roll, with the cooking stove and the small cooler had the dry food. We used just about everything but the tools. |
