Took a fantastic 300 mile ride yesterday including a bit of a Jeep trail where I probably shouldn't have been. I ended up axle deep in some mud, and while it was squirrley to say the least I made it through no problem. Upon returning home I was in the process of hosing the bike down and noticed that the forward pulley cover was deformed. Closer inspection revealed a rock wedged between the pulley and cover grinding on the belt. My guess is that the belt acted as a conveyor...uuuhhh... belt and delivered the rock to it's final resting place. To the belts credit other the a clean spot there appears to be absolutley no damage to the belt after being in there for around 35 miles. Just wanted to point out a potential trouble area to check after off road excursions. Not only is the belt there, but the oil line to the swing arm recieved some superficial scratches from the egg sized rock rattling around. Sorry no pics, the camera was dead. |
