Any soft bags out there for the Uly yet? My last couple of sets of hard bags for my BMW and M2 just collected dust on the garage shelf. Soft bags for occasional use would be perfect. |

I just strap a medium size "Helen Two Wheels" bag on the triple tail. It is waterproof and holds even my notebook computer. |

Hard bags are like having extra wives. Soft bags are more like girlfriends.

I think the Ventura Aeropack would fit right over the beaver tail in the upright position. Al at American Sport bike does this I believe. |

Rhinowerx: It looks like you've got the Aeropack mounted on top of the triple tail, is that correct? How did you feel it worked for you, as I see you opted later to add the full factory luggage. GREAT photos in your gallery by the way. Has anyone else tried out soft luggage on their Uly? I'm considering the Chase-Harper stealth bags, or some other soft luggage, but am not sure how it will look. Also, is it true that you can't carry a pillion with soft luggage on? The soft-bags for the lightning and firebolt both have HUGE warnings about this. -Sean |

i am currently using a soft tail bag and a air box/tank bag on my uly until i have enough money for the sidecases. the tail bag is from my 02 S3T (part # 91308-97y) and the tank bag is for 03 later xb's(50514-02y). Both bags are obsolete so you will have to ebay them or have your local dealer easy-link them. the bags do not appear to be that large but i can easily carry my rain suit, fleece liner, several pairs of gloves, bungees and tools. and that is just in the tail bag. the tank bag is even bigger. Yep, mounted on the triple tail. As a soft luggage option, it worked out quite well - nicely made - holds lots of stuff. I had had the hardbags on order, but didn't know when they were coming in - I needed some form of luggage option. I initially thought, once the hard bags arrived, I would only mount the side bags (thought the top box looked a little funky). But once mounted, the look of them grew on me... A variation of the above setup with the Ventura bag allows carrying some gear with 2 on the bike, credit to my missus. It's not tested yet, it might leak in the rain and the straps *might* wear on the alloy but it looks secure and a hell of a lot better than nothing. Should be perfect for the occasional 2-up overnighter. (Message edited by opto on November 19, 2005) |

Another shot: edit: forgot to mention the triple tail is extended out the back and the Ventura pack is lying on it's back, just in case it's not obvious at first. (Message edited by opto on November 19, 2005) |
