I replaced an 8 year old, 35k mile, original belt in April of this year. I thought, gee, how annoying, but that's life. Now I get to do it again! Less than 4K miles. Nice. Fortunately, for the second time, it broke pulling into the parking lot at work. I can't see anyway for this to be anything other than a coincidence. The "new" broken belt is hard and very stiff. There are 4 major cracks through the rubber casing on the teeth side. Lots of smaller cracks, but four places where there were major cracks that revealed some torn cords. It it hadn't broken where it did, one of the other cracks would have failed. What's the deal? Different maker of the belts? Where can I get one that will last a little longer? This was the correct part number one from Al not a cheap knockoff. |

The belts come with a one year warranty from HD for manufacturing defects, not do to improper installs or crap from the road. I've seen the belts in the past come in with the cracks and manufacturing defects before. They claim its when the belts are getting made the ones that are cut from the ends have the tend to have the issues more. At this time HD is the only manufacture I've heard of making belts for the Buells. I'll send you a PM |
