I was thinking about making some up like the one in the picture, which is for a Honda. The engine guard protects the frame and engine, but leaves the bags vulnerable. What do you think?

My gut says it would transfer too much impact energy to the tail section and/or footpeg mount. Bags are cheaper and easier to replace than either of those.
