I'm stumped.

06, stock bike, stock exhaust, new steering bearings, new front iso, and my engine vibes are about 10x WORSE than before.

Torqued properly.

Marked with touchup paint for quick pre-flight checks, no issues.

Good belt.

Good wheelbearings, and a '10 rear wheel. Like-new PR3's.

Stumped.

Suggestions?

Cold weather makes the iso get stiffer I find.

Not 10X worse vibes though!

I'd suggest looking at the exhaust mounting hardware. It doesn't take much slack to allow a thing to resonate.
And the stock muffler is quite heavy.

Make sure the Heim joints are lubed? I'm just thinking that when you dropped the front of the engine (slightly) to install the new mount, one or more of the joints may have bound up when it was flexed, which is now transmitting vibration from the engine to the frame.

The only other thing I can think of (besides cold weather like Nate says) is the new joint may actually need to break in. The old rubber may be been soft after many miles while the new joint is very stiff. Ride it a while and see if it gets better.

Something got to be touching something that is not supposed to be touching something.

You got the comfort kit? My rear pipe guard slid up to touch the bottom of the right fuel tank spar. Vibrated bad.

Check the rear mount also. Mine sheared the head and was floating. The damage was done a year earlier in a major accident, but it took a while for the crack to open up and eject part of the head.

The motor never rotated - I had the muffler on a flatjack while I was rebuilding the front end. Pulled the iso while it was sitting "on the muffler", so the only flex would have been an empty frame (with no trees, forks, or front wheel) sagging under gravity for about three minutes while I swapped the mounts.

I'd pondered the "new rubber vs old rubber" concept...still a possibility. Time will tell on that one. And I don't recall it being this bad because of cold weather before...but that could be head injuries/failing memory/old age ; )

Vibes seem worse on decel; steady-cruise they're actually pretty smooth. Yes, still running like a champ, 2 cylinders, great power, no issues there. Worst part is, I only swapped it *because* I had the front end off...and it was right there. With 32k miles on it. Maybe I'll put the old one back in, lol...

Each time I have replaced my isolator it was sooooo much smoother. I have no idea how it could vibrate MORE instead of less.

I lube all of the little heim joint mounts everytime I change my oil. Even one of them getting corroded to lock up will transfer vibrations. But then, this is a new problem since the repairs right? So it has to be a thing touching a thing that is not supposed to touch anything. Cables all routed correctly and such?

Perhaps you swapped the isolator for a new part, not a good part?

I would suggest putting the old one back in.

My 2008 isolator has looked like crap inside for about 30,000 miles.
It's still pretty smooth so I just leave it alone.

Conversely, I have heard about isolators fail and not look bad. My X1 rear isolators went bad and I saw nothing wrong with them until they were out in my hand and even then, the faults were very subtle.

I know tuber rear isolators and XB front isolators are apples and oranges in terms of structure but I think the same concepts are valid for both.

Joe, I can only think of going back with a torque wrench and rechecking torques. Probably just the cold and newness.
