My front brake switch went from dodgy to dead while sitting, waiting for me to finish the world's longest engine rotation. Once I finished the "up" of the rotation this weekend (did the down a month or more ago), I found the front lever stopped lighting the tail light.

Its a simple thing: a Phillips head screw driver, some plastic safe contact cleaner, a few dabs of dielectric grease and some compressed air.

Duck under the throttle and you'll see a single Phillips head screw under the starter button.

Back the screw out, catch the switch, gently remove it from the wiring connection and shoot it full of CRC *plastic safe* contact cleaner and let it sit. Go back to the harness connector and do the same. I ran my harness connector tool in and out of the contacts to help clean them. I cleaned the blades on the switch with an Xacto knife (think: clean shave). Was surprised by the amount of corrosion on the blade connectors on the switch and in the connector.

Shot the switch and connectors with compressed air. Globbed dielectric grease in the contacts and reinstalled the switch.

Total time: 7 minutes, if that. Brake lights now work.
