Hey Kids, The ol' 2008 XT was needing a new front shoe, so I FINALLY broke down and ordered a Pirelli Scorpion Trail to match the rear. The Continental ContiMotion was pushing 15k miles.... yikes. And there was a 'slight' pulse in the front brake. So off with the wheel and down to the shop. I also put Dyna Beads in the front (rear has them) and they seem to work fine. Let's me run a clean rim, with no wheel weights- Before After Waiting for the FedEx guy to deliver the new Braking Wave Rotor. I also had an EBR rotor mount kit and some Ceramic Brake Pads waiting too. Once the rotor arrived, it was slapped on in no time flat. Back on the bike- Looks great, all done! And a few pics, after I cleaned her up. Not too bad for bike with almost 25,000 miles.

How do you get 15k miles out of that tire? The last set of tires on my Uly were Conti Motion and were supposed to be dual compound. They went 3300 miles; worst tire mileage ever on my Uly. |

Teeps- No idea. Yes, I commuted on that bike for 2yrs, about 40miles each way, but I also ride pretty hard on the twisties, but not as hard as I think I do... Still, the rear got 10k, impressive, as more than a few wheelies took place in that time. I'm a little anal about my bike- just like to keep the important stuff in good shape! Didn't care for the ContiMotions on gravel or dirt roads. Hope to get a chance to try out the Scorpions on dirt, soon! (those photo's were just 'pretend') Happy Riding! |

I have an almost identical story. 08 with 26K miles. Went out Sunday to ride, took bike out of garage, started it. Looked at front pads, damn, about gone. Had a new set of pads in garage, replaced in twenty minutes, went riding. Almost identical. My bike's much wetter and dirtier though. |

So, after a solid day behind the bars, the brakes feel MUCH better. More bite and more overall power, with less pressure at the lever. Pretty happy. The front tire feels way nicer too. The Conti Motion would let the front end 'wiggle' if I rode without my hands on the bars, but the Pirelli does not. Rock solid. My love affair with my Ulysses has been re-ignited! |
