Will the desert camo plastics fit an 08 intake?

Wasn't there certain intake covers that were not compatible with 08 and up?

Yes, and it is the covers that do not have the air intake by the gas cap. The covers on the 03-05 XB and the 08+ 1125 models do not have the opening for the air intake, but if you wanted to use those covers anyway it doesn't take much effort to remove the plastic piece.

All the covers from all 06 and newer XB models have the air intake opening.

Here are two covers, one is an 06+ XB with the air intake opening, the other is the style without the opening.

I've seen people change out the piece and I've also seen others just drill out the older style.

The earlier XBs had a left side scoop for the air intake that had a tube up through the left side of the gas tank spar for it's air box inlet.

They removed the left side air intake scoop, welded plates over the tank's holes, and moved the air inlet above the gas cap allowing for more fuel in the tank.
