I'm taking the Buell hard bags off my 06 ULY and putting large Military Ammo cans on. I want to use the mounting bracket that is already on there. Who has mounted Ammo cans on their bike and how did they attach them? I really didn't want to drill holes through the bracket, didn't want to compromise the structural integrity of the bracket.

By the way, I will be selling my two side hard bags and the top bag. One side bag has a broken lock and the top bag has a crack in it. I took the top bag bracket off and it will be for sell too. Side bracket is staying on the bike to attach the Ammo cans to. I will upload pics of the bags soon. I will list a price for all of it as soon I get the bags cleaned up and evaluated.

Ammo cans are pretty heavy if the ones I have from my Marine Corps days are any indication.

yeah, mine were 20 lbs each iirc.
heavy, but so is the stuff i put in them. i'm not saying that heavier is necessarily more desireable ...
but why bend over backwards to make it lighter (weaker) when its gonna get filled with heavy stuff?

Have you thought of using these:

Aluminum still opens on top with rubber seal.
Keeps your mashed potatoes warm too!

Debueller, The mounting hardware you suggested is exactly what I'm looking for. They are a little pricey. $66 for each side is a little more than I wanted to spend, but it is the most professional way I have found. Me being the redneck that I am, I was going to use U-bolts to attack the cans to the mounting bracket. As soon as I sell my hard bags, I will use that money to by the brackets from touratech. Here is a picture of the LARGE cans that I'm attaching. They will barely fits. My wife said they are the ugliest things that she has ever seen but I like the new look. I may take all the plastic off and either have it painted or dipped. Any suggestion on where to send plastic off to have it dipped. I'm going for the WWII OD green/military era look?

Bags

The side bags are for sale-$250+ shipping. One of the latches is broken, other than that they are OK, just normal wear and tear.
The top case and rack may already be sold.

Ammo Can

I repainted these cans, just waiting to mount them.

The side bags are still available to a new home. I like to barter and being the hunter and outdoors man that I am, I like things that go boom. If you have anything to barter with just send me a PM and I will see if we can make a deal.
